Poultry feed as ingredient to brew with?

Lots of folks on the "high octane "brewing"" side of things use plain sweet feed as a first source. Has barley, corn, oatmeal, sorghum and a couple other things in it. Works great and *allegedly* tasted pretty darn good after everything is processed.

    Saison Cottage House Saison

I brew a saison with pepper, chamomile and honey using t58 and I've taken it to several festivals. People love it or hate it. There generally is no in between. But the people who love it ask where they can buy it, and I've even had a couple people offer to help with startup capital if I were to...

You know you're a home brewer when?

Considering the fact that they got something ridiculous like 3 gallons of beer per day, I think EVERY day was a holiday for them...

Sweet Stout Left Hand Milk Stout Clone

I find that at cooler temps US 05 tends to look sluggish but still ferment fast. If it runs about 70-72 it churns like mad and can blow a bucket lid off like nobodies business.

Guide to Making a Frozen Yeast Bank

Provided the ice doesnt swell enough to crack the vials I would think it should work. I would run a test batch without yeast a few times first though, myself.

    Cheap compact wort pump

Additionally, I know 400 series stainless would make for a damn weak pump. Yes, it IS magnetic to an extent, but not nearly as much as mild steel. It can have something stick to it, but you will rarely, if ever, see stainless steel magnets being marketed as exceedingly strong.

    Cheap compact wort pump

Toyota is a large reputable company, and they knew the prius had an issue with their electronic throttle sending units. They chose to sell them anyway. Just saying...

    My new Brutus 10 clone

I have not yet. Unfortunately, the brewery budget got re-appropriated for more pressing matters. If you look closely at the (mostly) assembled pic, you can see horizontal bars extending toward the front. I have holes drilled in them that I will run a 5/16 bolt through them and my burners. Its...

Then thats worse. My exchange fee for a 5lb cylinder is $23. If I went up to a 10lb cylinder it would be $26. Most of the cost is involved in government fees and taxes and fill fees. The gas is nearly free. 50lb tank is only $52 for exchange. Shame I dont have room or need for a 50lb cylinder.

Beat up bottles are a small price to pay to not have to have a bottle sent off for hydro testing every 5 years. Sure new if pretty... but if its hidden, who cares?

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

05 brings out a bit more hop character. 04 tends to subdue hops a bit and bring out more malt character. It also drops out a little better in my experience. I say go for it.

    Brewery names--what's your story?

Thats the whole point here. Most folks dont have a professional brewery. But they make beer on a home brewery and the beers they drinknand share come from a brewery. THEIR brewery. :mug:

I like to make magnets with new or interesting caps. 1/2" round magnets glued to inside of nifty caps make nice decorations for the keg fridge.

    2014 Hop garden photo thread

I have a piece of 1/4" wall d.o.m. tubing and an aluminum slug that slips inside. Figure smashing it into the tube with a 1 ton press should suffice. After that I will put them into the food saver for storage.
