    Turning Bottles During Fermentation?

    I think the floatees that you see are from the carb tabs. They will still be there when your beer is done. No problem though.

    using lactose for priming?

    You know now that I go back and check out the recipe I missed the 1-1/2 cups of priming sugar. I guess dropping in some priming pills would be the best option now? Only 48 caps wasted.

    using lactose for priming?

    I just bottled my second batch. It was a Caramel Cream Ale recipe that was to be primed with 4 oz vanilla and 1 cup lactose. I cut back on the vanilla to 2 oz to cut back on the sweetness. My question is being that lactose is unfermentable does that mean I might not have enough sugar to...

    Low Carb. Question

    I just taste tested a couple of bottles of the Brewers Best kit American Amber Ale. It has only been bottled 2 weeks and it tasted good but a little flat. I used 5o/z of priming sugar. Is this normal? How many weeks before proper carbonation? Christmas party next week. Is that too much to ask...

    Cleaning Blowoff Tube

    Anyone have a good idea for cleaning 1" blowoff tubes. after brewing caramel cream ale the tube was pretty nasty. I let it soak overnight but that didn't seem to work.

    Same Old Question About Fermentation

    After 9 days of primary very active at first and down to 1 bubble a minute at the end I racked to the secondary. I was dissapointed in the hydro reading which was og 1048 and fg 1030. Could this be from not enough oxygen when the yeast was pitched? If I leave it in the secondary longer than 2...

    Same Old Question About Fermentation

    I just wanna be sure. My caramel cream ale has been in the primary for 8 days. The first night it blew if the airlock and foamed over. I replaced it with a blowoff tube and it bubbled pretty good for 3 or 4 days. It's been down to 2 bubbles a minute for 3 days now. I was going to do the 1-2-3...

    Caramel cream ale?

    I brewed up a batch last Sunday and checked on it before I went to bed. The airlock had blown off and the foam was running down the carboy. Cleaned it up and put on a blow off tube. It is still bubbling about 5 bubles a minute 5 days later.

    Bad Starter?

    Yesterday I smacked a pack of Wyeast German Ale yeast. This morning it was swelled nicely to about 2". I boiled a mixture of 1 pint of water and 1/2 cup of DME for 10 minutes. I then chilled the pot in cold water in the sink until it was cool to the touch. I poured it into the bottle, added the...
