BeerSmith 3: Here it comes. Thoughts?

I'm happy to pay Brad for his hard work. I just want things to be automatic. I think that Apple has set that level of expectation where you can begin something like an email on your desktop and finish it on you iPhone/iPad seamlessly. Perhaps his new online service that he teased will be my...

BeerSmith 3: Here it comes. Thoughts?

I can't help but find that disappointing. I'm not disciplined enough to copy things back and forth between desktop and mobile using the cloud as a middle man. I want to be able to tinker with a recipe while I'm waiting on line at the grocery store and then pickup where I left off on my desktop...

BeerSmith 3: Here it comes. Thoughts?

Did anyone see if there are going to be any changes to the manual process of moving recipes from the desktop to the cloud to your mobile? Some kind of automatic syncing would sell me on a cloud subscription. The manual moving of recipes is tedious and I will certainly get me out of sync...

BeerSmith 3: Here it comes. Thoughts?

Is there a trial available during the pre-order period? I'd like to try it out before purchasing.

    Diffusion Stone for Carbing

Do you need to use worm clamps to keep it on the post and barb because of the pressure? Seems like it would be hard to clean and sanitize.

    Bru'n Water and Bohemian Pilsner

Thanks for the update. I bottled the last gallon or two from my keg. I have to taste it again to see if mine has changed.

    Bru'n Water and Bohemian Pilsner

Hey. Sorry for not reporting back. It turned out OK. Crystal clear. Need to up the hop bitterness next time I make it. There was a off flavor that neither I nor several members of my homebrew club could clearly describe. I felt it was like a white wine sort of fruity/estery thing but...

    Drinking Water Safe Spray Nozzle

I have read enough articles about using a drinking water safe RV/Marine hose to make sure my brewing liquor isn't contaminated by lead or BPA. It made me think about my cleaning. It seems that all garden hose spray nozzles contain lead. After an extensive search I found these lead-free...

    Danby Mods

Wow. 10' seems like a lot for a little mini fridge. Thanks for the suggestion. Do you know how people came up with 10'? I played around with calculators like this: http://www.iancrockett.com/brewing/info/kegbalance.shtml I plugged in 7' of tubing, 2 lbs per foot resistance and 2.5' drop...

when you say the gland, do you mean this hole on the compressor hump? If so, did it just snake through or did you have to modify it? Let me know the fan fixes the foaming problem. For me, it's not just the first pint that foams so I suspect it's something else. I anxiously await your report...

Looks great! I recently built a kegerator from the same fridge. Can you post pics of your fan build? How did u run the fan cord out of the fridge? Also, I'm having a ton of problems balancing my system. Cup of foam every time. Did u run into that at all? Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Which BJCP style should I enter my beer?

Thanks for the suggestions. I entered it as a specially beer but mentioned hoppy and vienna lager in the description. The description turned out to be a mistake since the Vienna malt didn't come through. I spoke with the judge after. It really didn't fit any style. He seemed to feel it was...

Which BJCP style should I enter my beer?

Just entering in my monthly club competition for feedback. We have a block party next weekend so the keg won't have an opportunity to age for more than a week. 😉 Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

Which BJCP style should I enter my beer?

Recently made a Vienna lager. It was intentionally hoppier than a Negra Modello. Going for more of a Brooklyn Lager. Beersmith says the IBUs were within the style guidelines. My pallet says that it's too hoppy for the style. I ended up with less beer than I should have so maybe the actual IBUs...

    Bru'n Water and Bohemian Pilsner

This has been super helpful. I'm going with just CaCl2 as you guys have recommended. Bru'n Water says if I add .4 g/gal CaCl2, I get 29ppm Ca and 51ppm Cl2. I'm going to use 2ml of lactic acid to adjust the ph. I'll report back when it's done.

    Bru'n Water and Bohemian Pilsner

Am I understanding correctly that if don't add any Gypsum, then my Sulfate to Chloride ratio will be 0 thus giving me a malty beer. If I add .25 g/gal Calcium Chloride and .3 g/gal of Gypsum, then my Sulfate to Chloride ratio will be 1.4 which is balanced. It makes my Calcium 36.4ppm Sulfate...
