    Yes, carafoam is replacing the oats. If you want the real deal, make that jump to AG brewing. You won't regret it at all. If it's an equipment thing.. BIAB solves that problem. That's what I do.. I have the ability and equipment to do a 3 vessel batch sparge AG brew but BIAB works just as well...

    I use quick oats from the grocery store all the time. Sometimes I toast them, sometimes I don't. Naked oats should be fine as well

    funny how accidents can turn out awesome. as far as harvesting the yeast and expecting the same results. possibly but there is no way to ensure you have an even mix of the 2 strains. Its always worth a shot though!
