BJ's Jeremiah Red Clone AG recipe?

My wife and I eat at BJ's quite a bit and Jeremiah Red has been one of our favorites, so when I found the recipe online I was pretty stoked to make it. However, after several tries it just never tasted quite like it does at BJ's and now I think I know why..... Over the last few months JR at...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

I bought the tap handle on eBay, but it was just a long metal tube/bolt with a mini helmet glued on. I then took a piece of wood and drilled a 5/8" hole through it. I slid the tap handle into to wood. Next I took a Cowboys koozie and slid it over the wood and stapled it underneath to hold it in...

    Portable igloo cooler kegerator

Here's mine.... Ready for football season! And with the way the Cowboys have played the last few years, the beer will come in handy.

Weissbier Bee Cave Brewery Bavarian Hefeweizen

Just cracked one open and I must say this is one better beers I've made. I stuck to the recipe 100% except that I added 0.25 oz. coriander the last 15 minutes of the boil. The beer just plain tastes great! Thanks for the recipe!

Pumpkin ale and no rice hulls - will I get a stuck sparge?

I used two large cans of Libby, I think 4 lbs total. It was a 5 gallon recipe, don't remember the volume of the strike water, but I used the same bags full of pumpkin for my spathe water too. Pumpkin has very little sugar in it, so I really didn't see the need to mash it. I asked around and...

Pumpkin ale and no rice hulls - will I get a stuck sparge?

I used canned pumpkin, but instead of adding it to the mash tun I put it in a mesh bag and then steeped it in my HLT while heating my strike water. This still imparted a nice orange color and pumpkin flavor without having to deal with pumpkin meat clogging up my runnings. The beer turned out...

    Autumn Seasonal Beer Punkin' Ale

I made this recipe about 6 weeks ago and just sampled my first bottle tonight. I made one slight change in that I split the base malt into half 2-Row and half Maris Otter. I can honestly say that this is not only the tastiest beer I have ever made, but perhaps the best I have ever tasted! This...

    Perlick faucet replacement question

I'm ready to buy some Perlick 525's to replace my cheap-o faucets that came with my dual tap tower that I bought from Beverage Factory. My question is, do I need to buy Perlicks WITH the shank or will the Perlick faucet by itself fit on my existing shanks?

    Where to start with water?

Thanks to all of you for your help. The fog over my brain is starting to lift a little.

    Where to start with water?

So if I understand everything correctly, I should add lactic acid to the mash water only and not the sparge, correct?

    Where to start with water?

I know you guys must be beaten down with water newbs asking for advice, but I'm going to go ahead and swallow my pride and ask anyway..... I got my water report back from Wards and started playing around with Bru'n Water. I've plugged in my numbers and selected a profile of "Amber Malty" (I'm...

    Northern Brewer hops?

I have a recipe that calls for US Northern Brewer hops, but all I can find at my LHBS are German Northern Brewer hops. Are these two varieties interchangeable, or are these two completely different hops?

    Priming in corny keg ?!

I am naturally carbing my kegs for the first time. For my new keg system I decided to go with 2.5 gallon kegs due to the space constraints of the fridge I have in my bar. What I did on bottling/keg day was to rack all 5 gallons into a bottling bucket and then I added enough priming sugar...

The CO2 Nazi of DFW (ala soup nazi from Seinfeld)

Exactly.... the guy contended that the # symbol did not mean "pounds".

The CO2 Nazi of DFW (ala soup nazi from Seinfeld)

I found a fire extinguisher place near where I work in Arlington, TX. They charged me $20, which I thought was a little high, but at least they were friendly and spoke English. I didn't even have to tell them what the capacity of the tank was...... imagine that!

The CO2 Nazi of DFW (ala soup nazi from Seinfeld)

I just went to Shax's liquor store in Lake Dallas and the crazy man behind the counter would not fill my tank. When I came in he asked me how big the tank was and I told him it was a 5 lb tank, which it is. He says, there's no way that it is a 5 lb tank because it's too big. He looks at the tank...

BJ's Jeremiah Red Clone AG recipe?

I know this thread may be old, but for those looking for the recipe, I think I found it. Jeremiah Red is one of my all time favorite brews, so I have been trying all year to replicate it. A couple of months ago I found a BSM file posted on the internet that supposedly came from a former brew...

    Best Beer at DFW

The Meddlesome Moth is one of my favorites. They have my favorite local brew, The Velvet Hammer, from Peticolas Brewing Company, brewed right here in Dallas. http://www.mothinthe.net/

Help Choosing a Smoker for a Newbie

WSM is a good choice, but I personally prefer an off-set smoker. If you choose to go that route there are many regional brands (depending on where you live), so the brands we have in Texas may not be available where you live. The key is you want a smoker that can hold the heat, otherwise any...
