    Review: SSBrewTech Chronical 7Gal Fermenter

Looks pretty nice. Seems like a waste to put ball valves on it though. With the amount of money spent on one of these, might as well get some butterfly valves (~$47 each from Brewers Hardware) to make it completely sanitary and easy to clean. Would also make it much easier to add barbs and...

    Clogging plate chiller question

http://forums.morebeer.com/viewtopic.php?p=111515&sid=ad32d52bd41955d97863accff941f95f#p111515 If you follow the flameout routine I posted, your kettle will rest for 20 to 40 minutes plus transfer time. There's no need to worry about sanitizing whirlfloc, or almost anything you put into your...

    How Clean is Your ChillPlate?

The paranoia is strong in this thread. All large breweries use plate heat exchangers, the only difference being that the large ones are made with gaskets vs brazed copper on homebrew sized ones. The cleaning process is virtually the same regardless of size. In order to properly clean any heat...

    Clogging plate chiller question

The easiest way to fix any problems is to just give your kettle more time to settle. Your flame-out/knockout routine should be something like this: At flameout (NOT 15mins, boiling whirlfloc denatures it), add your whirlfloc (not necessary, but defintely recommended and will help a lot with...

4 volumes of CO2 in regular beer bottles?

Depends how heavy the glass is. They should, but if they are thin, it may be risky. I bet if you ask AHS they can tell you for sure

    Commercial brew in keg

Treat it no differently than you would your own kegs. You don't have to have it on co2 all the time, but make sure to put 10 to 12psi in the keg before disconnecting it from the gas.

Bottling in Belgian Bottles Without Corking

If you can find any Jolly Pumpkin bottles (or Founders Backstage series), they are the same shape as standard belgian bottles, but they take a regular crown cap. Sierra Nevada also uses some bottles like this, but they are not as heavy as the JP bottles.

No matter what it seems "watery"?

If this is the case, he may want to check out this post https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f36/milling-my-own-grains-hit-all-my-mash-sparge-temps-still-only-got-60-a-176566/#post2044305 This is how I sparge, always get great efficiency with this method.

No matter what it seems "watery"?

Batch or fly sparge? Do you mashout?

    strongest 12 oz. bottles?

If you can get any of the older bottles that were truly returnable and reused by the brewery, they are much heavier than your standard 12oz longneck. I have several cases of Old Milwaukee bottles I've acquired over the years like this.

    24+ gallon fermenters: suppliers?

Premier does have a 1BBL pilot system. You would have to call them for pricing and configuration though.

9 gal SS pot (36 qt) $58 - Who needs one?

Great deal. I use their 62 quart (15.5 gallon) version of this pot. Has served me well for almost 2 years now, highly recommend any size from Bayou Classic.

    1/2" NPT Swivel Hose Barbs

After a very long time searching for something like this, I have finally found it. You can use these on the end of your hoses that connect to 1/2" NPT threads anywhere in your system. They have a swivel like a garden hose connector to make it easy to put on and off. I bought them specifically...

    No mashout fly sparge question

If you can, start your pump recirculating your hot water 10 to 15 minutes before you start sparging. Just put the output hose back in the top of your hot water vessel (while running your burner/heat source). This will heat up the pump and hoses, making heat loss minimal. As for your other...

Finally buying an all grain boil kettle.

I have a 15 gallon Bayou Classic stainlesskettle, single layer (found a "dented" one on ebay for about $100, it had a small one inch dent on the bottom edge). Never have problems with scorching, has worked like a champ since day one. Drilled my own holes in it for weldless fittings.

    No mashout fly sparge question

If you are fly sparging and not doing a mashout, get your sparge water up to 180-190. By the time you are done sparging, your grainbed should be right around 168 to 170 easily. If you don't get that hot, you're essentially doing a 2 hour mash give or take, which will give you a drier beer, but...

    Different bottle styles???

Jolly Pumpkin and Founders 750ml bottles are awesome. They are traditional belgian shape, but take a normal crown cap. The bottles are also quite heavy and can handle very high pressure. Sierra Nevada 750ml bottles (not their 22oz) are very similar but made of a slightly thinner glass.
