    New Brew System

My f-i-l suggested that I get a muffler clamp at an auto parts store. I ended up using parts from that as well as the u-bolts from lowes. My pump is permanently fixed at the moment, but I have the parts to disconnect as well.

    New Brew System

What did you use for the backside of the u-bolts? I scoured lowes and home depot and can't find anything like them? I'm specifically talking about the pseudo curved pieces that go through the u-bolt arms and provide the clamping pressure on the table legs.

Tieing Single compartment sink to wall

All - I am installing my single compartment sink with drainboard. I have it leveled side-side/front-back, but the backsplash has a noticeable pitch away from the wall...

    Homemade fermentation controller

All, I'd like to move beyond the basic inkbird temperature controller in order to save and track my temperatures during fermentation and cold crashing. I was considering building a craftbeerpi controller to do just that. The advantage is that i can monitor my diy glycol chiller temperature and...

Purpose of temperature probe in glycol bath

If i'm not consistently brewing, should i continue to keep the chiller plugged in and cycling to prevent any sort of fungal or bacterial growth in the cooler?

    Diy glycol chiller woes

If you are referencing the straight line near the pinched tube, that is just a surface scratch. I was trying to reshape the copper with pliers and padding but the Jaws went through the padding.

    Diy glycol chiller woes

So my chiller build is not going smoothly. For reasons I don't want to talk about, I pulled the wrong fins off and set them into the cooler. It was at that time that I realized that I had the wrong one so I started the process of getting it back in place. I was able to get the fins in place but...

Purpose of temperature probe in glycol bath

I'm building a DIY glycol chiller and i keep seeing people putting a temperature probe into the glycol bath. I feel like this is a dumb question, but what's the purpose of the probe in the bath? I assume that i want to have my probe in the thermowell of the conical and that's it.

    Old DME

I had considered relegating it to starter malt. I am definitely not a fan of risking a batch of beer over it

    Old DME

I came across some dme that I had with an old kit. The bag is unopened, but there's also no date to determine its age. What's the shelf life for it?

Miscalculated DME quantities, now OG is way too low

All, I totally brainfarted when making a 10-gallon extract gose. I added 6lbs mix of briess light, and bavarian. I measured out my gravity and wrote it down without actually paying attention to how low it is. i'm about a 1.5 weeks after brew day, and i haven't taken my FG yet, but is it too...

    Gravity brew tower

bought this off my neighbor who had it built for him. It's no-name equipment, but he successfully brewed delicious all grain on it for a number of years. It's plumbed for NG. Don't have the kettle sizes, but it's appropriately sized for 5 gallon batches. Includes: boil kettle, mash run, hot...

Two packets of same kind of yeast are different colors

They had different dates, so I would assume lot #s as well. I didn't take any pics. I've already brewed and pitched. Both carboys fermented along happily so I guess all is well until I can check gravity and flavor next week sometime.

    Making a sour

I do extract kettle sours. I do a 10-15 minute pasteurization boil with my grains (1.5lb Pilsen dme, 1.5lb Bavarian dme), then I cool to 90 and pitch lacto. Lacto is very sensitive to Hops so I prefer this order rather than hopping prior to sour. I use an inkbird temp controller tied to...

Two packets of same kind of yeast are different colors

The slurry itself is darker. There were no off odors as far as I can tell. I'm not overly concerned, but it seems atypical for a product whose quality is so tightly controlled.
