question on the differences between tripels and dubbels

Yeah definitely some caramel flavors in this. I'm thinking of coming up with a custom recipe with some fresher malt. Any recommendations on yeast strain for a Belgian Trippel?

question on the differences between tripels and dubbels

I'm quite new to homebrewing so I'm not sure exactly what a partial boil is, but we followed the instructions quite closely. One issue that might've caused such a high FG is we made a primary in a 2 Liter that blowed off losing quite a bit of yeast as well as another blow off during the primary...

question on the differences between tripels and dubbels

I recently brewed northern brewer's tripel extract recipe. It tastes much more like a dubbel than a tripel and I'm trying to figure out why. I have a few ideas though, our fermentation stalled a little bit with a FG of 1.020 (OG 1.074) which was likely caused from bad yeast choice (wyeast 3787...

Question about a high gravity reading after 5 weeks

You know it does taste pretty good, I'm just letting it sit in a slightly warmer environment hoping that will help. I haven't pitched any more yeast yet.

Question about a high gravity reading after 5 weeks

Yep I'm going to order the yeast today and get a yeast starter going asap, I'll keep you posted if I see any notable results.

Question about a high gravity reading after 5 weeks

Would it be too late to add yeast nutrients/energizer at this point?

Question about a high gravity reading after 5 weeks

I think I might try this despite what others have said (the abv is quite hostile for the yeast) because at this point what's the worst that can happen? I'm hoping I can get it down to 1.015, I just don't want the beer to be too sweet.

Question about a high gravity reading after 5 weeks

Ah I see, is there anything I can do to lower the FG? Could I add in more/different kind of yeast to bump up the abv or would that just ruin the beer?

Question about a high gravity reading after 5 weeks

Hello, I recently have been brewing a triple: https://www.northernbrewer.com/products/belgian-tripel-extract-kit. Brewing day was around 5 weeks ago. I used the wyeast 3787 with an OG of 1.072. Today I moved it to a secondary and took a FG reading of just 1.020 which is a bit high. Now after its...

Question on if this mold made it into my fermenter

Hello, I recently started brewing a Belgian Tripel and quickly realized the krausen or foam at the top of the fermenter was going to spill over my carboy. So I quickly went out and got a blow off tube, filled a bucket with water and starsan and taped the end of the blowoff tube to the bottom of...

No activity after 12 hours using a yeast starter

Yep everything looks good. Been having an active fermentation for about 2 weeks now. I had to get a blow off tube it was fermenting so aggressively.

No activity after 12 hours using a yeast starter

Hello, I'm brewing northern brewer's tripel extract kit Belgian Tripel Extract Beer Recipe Kit. I'm using the wyeast 3787 and created a yeast starter the day prior to brewing. The yeast starter had tons of activity, and it was constantly bubbling over for the first 12 hours. The last 12 hours it...

Just tried my first ever home brew and it tasted great but had a slight bitter after taste

I finally tasted my first home brew using this starter kit: Saison de Noel Extract Beer Recipe Kit It only called for 1 oz of magnum hops which I assume is a quite small amount of hops. The beer smells fantastic, classic Belgian dark fruit yeasty smelling beer. The taste follows the scent and...

Had the bottle conditioning on its side, Is this all yeast of something else?

yeah I don't have much experience with candy sugar (or homebrewing in general) but it was definitely a liquid when I added it to the beer.

Had the bottle conditioning on its side, Is this all yeast of something else?

Yeah they're upright now, but I was wondering if this is a typical amount of yeast, or this is something else entirely.

Had the bottle conditioning on its side, Is this all yeast of something else?

Sorry if the image is a bit big, I compressed it down and its still massive lol FYI this is my first home brew ever so I’m very new to this. Also I now know it’s not recommended to bottle condition on the bottles side. We did use a secondary fermenter and it came out quite clean, so I’m shocked...

First time brewing how do I prime with belgian candi sugar?

Hello, I'm about to start bottling my first ever homebrew, and am brewing a Belgian style dark saison. I thought it would be fitting to prime the bottles with Belgian candy sugar, and on northern brewer's website they have a nice calculator that says how much to use. Homebrew Priming Sugar...
