Hey all. So to date I’ve done no more than 2 gallons at time. I’m thinking of stopping up to 5 in the beer future. Can I use throes 5 gallon jugs of water as fermenter?

So I know typically we’re supposed to use pop cap bottles but if we’re reusing bottles can we use old screw top bottles? Or do the caps not hold right?

I've got tubing already from working cider and wine. This is just the first time I'm doing beer.

My fermenter doesn't have a spigot. Just a basic "primary fermenter" bucket. Not sure if that would impact any advice you all have.

Where would an Irish Red rate? Instructions said 1 week in primary then re-rack to secondary for another week. Right now I'm a little over a week into primary. With leaving in primary should I transfer to another vessel to bottle or can I I do that from that same fermenter I've been using? I...

I've been reading some stuff on other forums and advised that secondary fermentation really isn't needed in homebrewing. What are others thoughts here? Trying to decide if I want to follow suit and not do the secondary and just leave it at one just running it a little longer.

See the hard part with doing this at the pour level extracts like this can be very strong even just a drop. A single drop could way over power the 12oz pour.

So I'm looking at getting a wort chiller before my next batch so I don't have to do an ice bath in my kitchen sink. Problem is my faucet has a retractable hose as the primary water output. Is there some sort of adapter I can get to use with a wort chiller?

So I've see a few posts mention an app and I see wording about one in settings. Is there an app that I can use to access the site from my phone? Other than an obvious web browser?

Thanks, unless they fell out of date at the warehouse the dates shouldn't be a problem. I only plan to get them as I'm going to brew.

I don't have the recipe so if this is the wrong place please let me know and I'll repost in the correct. Does anyone have a clone recipe for Sam Adams Dark Larger? It's a seasonal for them and only available in one pack and you only get two. I was hoping to make one myself throughout the year.

Yup until I get my skills down I want to stick with the kits. I'm also keeping them to small batches a gallon at a time. I figure after some practice sometime next year I'll branch out and try to tweak recipes a tad.

True, I know the devil is in the detail on how we work the recipe. But I wanted to make sure they had a quality product so I can know if the issue is me or my the products I'm using.

When starting out has anyone used Brewer's Best kits? I just brewed a kit from another vendor, but I'm curious about this brand and how their product is.

The only plastic is in the syphon tube and syphon. Just a basic cider, used apple juice, brown sugar, some cloves and cinnamon.
