Noted. Thank you! Shall wait then.

    Is my fermentation done?

Hullo! I have a NEIPA fermenting in a fermzilla and seem to have encountered something I have never had happen in many batches of brewing. I am using the Verdant IPA yeast (pitched an entire packet for a 10L batch). The fermentation took off and I got a massive dome at the peak of fermentation...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Super! Thank you for that. Will work on refining the recipe. I am unsure if I have those many hops. If the homebrew store has not shipped as yet, will get them to try and ship this as well. As for the rolled oats, how much would you suggest?

I use the HED with the BT probe and it works absolutely fine. I've also found that a degree here and there does not really matter too much. Also, in general even in the heating up to mash, perhaps consider reducing the heating power when approaching close to mash temp since once it is overshot...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Hullo! Thank you. I added citra in the boil to enhance the bittering. I've also reduced the Munich. This is what the recipe looks like now:

I remember seeing on the kegland video that there is no need for the PID when using the BT thermometer. So, I just switched to using the thermometer and I've done 4-5 brews now, all of which have been alright. What I would also advocate is that once you get a stable-ish temp during the mash...

I use a bag outside the malt pipe as insurance. Works like a charm. Also, some little bits of grain should not really have too much of an effect on anything.

Never got PID to work properly (but that's also because my inbuilt probe is not calibrated (I see it is off by something by 8c). I have switched to using only the BT thermometer. I put it in the middle of the top screen as well and it works perfectly fine. Just increase the differential and you...

New England IPA "Northeast" style IPA

Hullo! I am planning a NEIPA for my next batch (10L) and was considering this recipe: Brewfather. These are the hops that I have at the moment in inventory: Bobek (Styrian Golding B) - 1oz Cashmere - 2oz East Kent Goldings (EKG) - 1oz Fuggle - 2oz Hallertauer Mittelfrueh - 1oz Sabro Cryo - 1oz...

    Usage of special malts

Hullo! I am planning on a NEIPA shortly and the recipe calls for Torrefied Oats. I have Torrefied Barley at home and was wondering how interchangeable they are, and if this is advised at all as a substitution. Thank you. Amrith

    Keg beer pressure

Noted. Thank you. Could you point me to a few? I typically put it at 20-30psi and leave it for 24 hours and that seems enough to serve as well. I use a 9.5L (2.5 gallon) keg.

    Keg beer pressure

Quick question - All these carbonation charts - they do not talk about how long the carbonation needs to be at the given temp-pressure combination to achieve that level. Is that typically a week? A day?

Do not own the 3.1.1 but I can say that the Gen 4 is very good. I would suggest that the only "mandatory accessory" that you get is the BT temp probe but otherwise, I use the system as is. I do not really think you need a sight glass or a whirlpool arm. Just keep the recirc arm on and use a hop...

I am looking at the sparge heads as well. Seem nice. Before that though, I would suggest you put the tube right at the wall of the malt pipe which means that it naturally fans (spreads?) the liquid out along the wall. Seems to work for me.

I keep the lid on (I think this image was taken when I had perhaps not put the lid on as yet). I also find that if the angle is just so that the pipe is right on the side, it sort of fans out naturally along the walls and almost never leads to liquid levels that are not quite right. Also, I...

Stumbled upon this hack (by pure chance). I find that putting the recirc arm at a 90 degree angle ensures that the silicon can easily be put in place above the grain bed so that there is no chance of blowback. Also ensures that the flow is not constricted by the silicon tube being twisted.

    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

This is what I have seen work for me 1. Use a bag - I use mine outside the malt pipe 2. Never let the recirc arm hit the liquid when mashing - this will ensure that there is no blowback of grain 3. Use the top plate - helps keep the grain compacted and I have not had any efficiency issues thus...

    Brewzilla Gen4 Discussion/Tips Talk

I believe that they decided that they don't need a whirlpool arm given the new bottom drain design - or so I was told a year ago when I bought the system. I have used the Gen 4 35L for whirpool addition and can confirm that we don't really need it if you simply keep the recirc arm on through the...
