    Brewing contest for home brewers?

Things are coming along nicely. I’ve identified the location site (Orange County, NC) figured out the bands (more to come there), and am beginning to think on sponsors. My question for the group is: what type of vendors would you like to see at a home brewing competition? I’m likely not going...

    Brewing contest for home brewers?

I was thinking that attendees would vote. Do you think there chould be a judging panel as well? The idea for this event is to be a fundraiser for my would-be TV show. I'm thinking bands ( I have some connections locally to good ones), food trucks, and maybe a coincidental event where a reading...

    Brewing contest for home brewers?

Thank you for the insightful post. I will be working with a local brewing supply store, so I am hopeful that they have a grasp of some of this. I'm a big believer in consulting experts as they have gone through the steps and know where the pitfalls lie, assuming they are good at what they do. In...

    Brewing contest for home brewers?

Wondering if anyone has been to, or ideally organized, a contest-based brewing event. I am contemplating doing so this summer, with the idea being that home brewers would provide small samples to event attendees for the purpose of having them somehow vote for their favorite. To make it more fun...

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

Funny you should say that as I’ve had dozens of brewers volunteer to share their mishaps with me. They will have their trials and tribulations (in and out of the workplace) for sure.

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

I love Ozark! It’s not the most believable show, but the acting is great and the storylines compelling. The stakes are higher in that one than in mine, but the intent is to make LOTS BREWING be realistic and, therefore, identifiable. And my characters are much more sympathetic. I agree with your...

Thank you for voting/commenting. I’ve got some traction, so I’ll be sure to post updates should things come together. Wish me luck!

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

The good thing along those lines is that I have made many contacts across the industry willing to share ideas from actual experiences, and they also keep my technical writing realistic. PS - You might be a good candidate to read the script. Happy to send it to you. Just fill out the request on...

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

I fear you'll not be a fan of my would-be show. The young people setting out to open the brewery are fresh out of college and stuck in neutral. They have to figure out how to reprioritize things and then gain the confidence and momentum they need to run a business. I can't have that all happen...

Should anyone be interested, I have a website dedicated to the would-be show.

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

Not quite the tone, but not far off. I’ve described how I think it could work by comparing it to Friends meets Six Feet Under. It’s about the people running the brewery as much so as about the company itself.

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

There will be an emphasis on getting the brewing parts right, but the show isn't so much about a brewery as it is about people who run one, if that makes sense. It will be more far reaching than just watching brewers at work, to be sure. Thanks for posting!

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

This is so true. I figure to hold myself to the highest standard I can and have the show ring true to experts. This is why I have contacts within the brewing community review all my writing for this particular project. I figure if I get beer brewers to sign off, then they will be more willing to...

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

What I propose would make my show a drama would be the inherently dramatic situation that starting a business is for real people. There would of course be interpersonal dynamics to consider as well. My personal belief is that shows which aren't believable are second rate, so I've done everything...

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

The main character is against the idea, but they are unable to find other funding and so he very reluctantly agrees, but it turns out going against his better interests, just as he had feared.

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

I must admit I’ve not watched this one, don’t want to be influenced, but my understanding is that this show went for the comedy hook, whereas I’ve written a drama that features funny people.

Is there an audience for a TV show about a microbrewery?

Thanks for the advice. It is meant to be a funny drama, in which real business concerns are addressed and the characters have to put personal opinions aside for the betterment of the business, which does not always go smoothly. As I mentioned in another post, it’s about a brewery similarly to...
