    LME storage

Midwest supplies has a good deal when you buy a case of LME. However, I'm concerned about it going bad before I can use it. What is the best way to store LME? Refridgerator possibly? Assuming its fresh when I buy it, how long can I store it for under ideal conditions?

Why use both LME and DME in a recipe?

I often see recipes in BYO that include both LME and DME, even though they are the same type extract just different forms. Why would you do this rather than use all of one or the other?

What to do with empty Bud keg

I have a nearly new Bud keg, but I can't trade it in towards a deposit because it doesnt have a registration tag. I've seen people use them for a brew kettle, but I've always wondered how they get the wort out after cooling. I'd think trying to pour it would create a big mess, and using a...

First time using Star San, how much for one gallon?

The mix rate for star san is one ouce for five gallons according to the label. But I hear people mixing one tablespoon per one gallon. So if my math is right, 1 ounce = 2 tablespoons. So then one tablespoon would actually make 2.5 gallons. But if people are mixing at a higher concentration...

Actually, they're in Des Moines, but the seller is willing to deliver if we order enough. So far we're up to about 15-16. According to the seller, we only need to buy 20, but I'm sure the more we buy the more eager he'll be to get them here quickly. Contact me if you'd be interested in cheap...

    Oxyclean creating off flavors?

I have aquired many of my bottles from a recycling center and soaked them in oxyclean overnight, brushed, rinsed, and sanitized with one-step before use. My first and only batch that I've tried so far with those bottles tastes oxidized. When I sampled during bottling, I did not notice this off...

I dont have a beer fridge, and I cant fit 6-10 cases of beer in my regular fridge, so I have to leave them in room temp storage. I put a twelve pack in every so often, but most of them stay out. How long will bottled beer stay good at 70-75*F or so?

    Bass ale bottles for bottling?

I just bottled some beer using a red baron capper, and I used some Bass Ale bottles for the first time. They didn't seem to cap properly, and I'm a bit nervous I'll have another type of bottle bombs. Does anybody know if I'll have problems soon?

I'm a noob, but this mistake just pisses me off!

I've brewed about ten or twelve batches now, so I thought I've learned enough to try out a new beer. Because of the cost and long brew to drink time, I wanted to make sure that everything went perfectly during this brew day. Today I made a Rochefort 10 clone that I invested the last three...

Hops help with my Rochefort 10 clone

I am making an attempt at a extract Rochefort 10 clone. I used Beersmith and advice from others to arrive at the recipe below. The thing is, Beersmith has my IBUs at 22.3, but all the other recipes I've seen have far less hops and sometimes greater IBUs. I'm worried that I'm going to have a...

Much difference in real fruit vs extract?

I'm thinking about a good way to get rid of some wheat LME that I've had for a few weeks now before it goes bad. I still make wheat beers, but I now use DME so I can get the color closer to what I like. I'm thinking about a strawberry wheat, but I've never made strawberry beer. I really don't...
