    Herms setup positioning temperature sensor

I'm confused that the recommended PID settings have the Derivative set on zero and don't want to use this control function. Derivative control takes into consideration "rate of change of temperature". Kegland have designed a great compact system mechanically and its up the the brewer to...

    Best way to showcase Nectaron?

. "I could do mostly Nectaron with a little Citra or El Dorado in there to balance things out" Yes do it. Nectaron is the full orchard with a hint of lychee. I'd drop the El Dorado because I haven't used it. I used Citra as 5 min boil. Experiment but Wow it's a great hop. I used Pilsener malt...

Purging keg with CO2 from fermentation: liquid or gas post?

Ok I will just assume 0.1L / minute on average for 50 Hrs during rapid fermentation should be sufficient to purge my 19L keg. I do not connect my keg for purging until the 2nd day of rapid fermentation to allow for the head space in my fermenter King to itself be purged. I try to have an...

Purging keg with CO2 from fermentation: liquid or gas post?

Help please. Yes I read a thread where the dilution was mathmatically calculated but i can not find that link. I just want confirmation of length of time required to dilute the oxygen content in the 19L keg to an acceptable small amount. My flow rate from fermenter is approx 0.1L / min. Cheers.

I use a Pt 100 probe connected to a digital display reading to 1/100 of Deg C. It claims to have an accuracy of 0.1 Deg C

    Water as a spunding valve?

From my diving experience every 30 feet of water above you equals approximately 15 PSI of pressure. So for 10 PSI you would need a depth of approximately 20 feet.

Purging keg with CO2 from fermentation: liquid or gas post?

Question to the mathmeticians on dilution of oxygen in a 19L keg. At present my pressure fermenter produces approx 0.1 litres per minute at 9 PSI. I purge my keg from the fermenter to the liquid post of the keg then out of the gas post to my spunding regulator set at 9 PSI relieving pressure...

Thanks for your comments. Yes the BZ Gen 4 is a large learning curve for me from a grainfather. Can I add from experience of only my second brew. I've set my grain mill at 1.5mm and only stir top 1/3 when adding my grain. I control the mash circulation flow so that the level is stable. Level...

That is extremely well explained. Mash temperature to me is very important for my different brews. Kegland - You have a very well designed, all in one Brewzilla Gen 4 brew vessel. Please give us home brewers accuracy with temperature measurement and temperature display plus an actual PID...

I repeat - A linear output from the temperature measuring probe removes all the issues you are talking about. Yes you can program corrections for a non linear probe but that's messing with their setup. Any input into their program would not correct the temperature control function that we are...

Guys. You are playing with a non linear temp probe. Yes you could write software to correct the measurement but it would be infinitely easier to use a linear resistance probe that once calibrated would stay calibrated. Step back and ask the question of "What are Kegland's plans heading forward...

My tupence - If you go to google earth and put the pointer on your brew area you will get the height above sea level. In my case here in NZ its 98 M which equates to a boiling temp of 99.7 degrees C

Im of the opinion that kegland have contracted out the controls of the BZ Gen 4 hence the lack of response to the many control issues with Temp control. I have just purchased my BZ and am very impressed with the improvements from my early GF. The sloping conical heating self draining bottom is...

    Keg purging with active fermentation

Go to pressure fermenting. I have found 7.5 PSI works well with no carry over to keg being purged
