    Ambient Fermentation Temps

So all is good now! Got my temp to about 72F, but still had no action when I got off work yesterday. Stopped in to my LHBS to see if I needed more yeast. He gave me a small bag of yeast nutrient, and recommended that I put just a pinch in and give it a gentle stir. In about 2 hours, I was...

    Ambient Fermentation Temps

SG was 1.061. A bit more than the recipe was showing, but I added a couple things. I just moved it to a warmer spot hoping to get it started.

    Ambient Fermentation Temps

About 2 blocks. I will probably become his best customer... :tank: If I don't see any action by tomorrow night, I'll probably stop by and see if he has any more Wyeast 1084. I got the last pouch when I was there.

    Hello from Elma, WA

It's sitting at about 65F now, and I moved it to a warmer spot and got it wrapped in blankets. I thought I aerated it pretty good. Gave it a good pour into my fermentation bucket, and then whisked it with a sanitized spoon. It was good and foamy on top. Anyway, not to derail an introduction...

    Ambient Fermentation Temps

I did not make a primary. I activated the bag straight out of the fridge, about 4.5 hours before pitching, and set it on the counter. At first I could hear it sizzling inside, but that stopped shortly after. It never did swell. I kept giving it a shake or two throughout my brewing and double...

    Ambient Fermentation Temps

So I just brewed for the first time last weekend. I went with a stout recipe, as those are my favorite and I thought would be the easiest with the equipment and ingredients I had access to, as well as the ambient temps I was seeing in my house. I set a thermometer in several areas of my house...

    Hello from Elma, WA

Well, it's been 36 hours since I pitched the yeast, and still not much activity. The bucket is pressurized, so I know SOMETHING is happening. I haven't been able to watch it too closely, but I'll see a bubble every once in a while. I bet they are 15-20 minutes apart at least... Getting kinda...

Spice, Herb, or Vegetable Beer None More Black Vanilla Stout

Resurrect! For my very first attempt at brewing, I'm trying the OP recipe, with a few changes: 7lbs LME instead of 6 (Kind of an accident. That's the size of jug I got, and poured too much, so just added it all). 1 lb. Dark Dry Malt Extract .75 lb. Black Patent Malt .25 lb. Roasted...

    Hello from Elma, WA

We have a couple guys in our small town that opened up a HB store 2 blocks away from me about 6 months ago. Not quite sure why I didn't notice them until a buddy of mine got a kit for Christmas! Needless to say, we both went down there looking for ideas and supplies, and I ended up with a kit of...
