    I live outside Philadelphia, and I was wondering if anyone knows what region in the brewing world our water is comparable to. I only treat my water with campden tablets. I know it's not soft water. I'm just getting curious about water chemistry. Thanks

    What is the best all around dry lager yeast to use on any lager style? Going to brew a pilsner in a month or so then a amber lager after. Hoping I can reuse yeast from first brew

    I kinda stole the idea from Yooper I was cold crashing a stout 20# bag of ice a little water. In a day and a half got it to that temp another 20 # for another day package done

    Thanks I didn't know what was going on. I'm bottling and mashed in at 153 I think I did get the yeast back in suspension a little. I am going to wait a bit and take another reading in a few days Thanks again

    Kev211 Yes I was gradually raising the temp and it looked as if it was done. Maybe I stirred it up a little when I took the last gravity, it tasted pretty good

    Brewed a stout on 8/28. OG was 1.055 yeast is S-04 krausen dropped no airlock activity after 10 days so I checked gravity it was 1.014. Went to check it next day and it looks like it started up again so I left it, next morning airlock is bubbling. Wth. Has this happened to anyone and is this a...

    Temp control - when / how to let fermenter warm up so yeast can finish

    I'm in the process of doing this for the first time. I'm on day 4 of fermentation. This morning it was at 66f, ambient around 80f. I only put a 12oz ice bottle in this time. S-04 yeast, krausen starting to drop. It's a oatmeal stout
