First competition I entered, average score for the two score sheets 34.5. Based on the feed back from scores I would up the malt character either using MO, or maybe adding small amount of another grain to up the malt character. Brew House 70% Grain Bill 90% Pearl 4% Flaked Barley 4% Amber 2%...

Here's how much it costs to grab a beer around the world

And these don't count hotels and airports where the prices are jacked up. Deutsche Bank analysts collected data on the prices of various services for a recent report to clients. Among them, they included how much it costs to get a beer (500 mL or 1 pint) in a neighborhood pub in an expat...

Stressed Wyeast 1450, low temp pitch.

Or it was a combination of other things. First thing removed the smack pack from fridge, did everything with smacking to pushing on the bag to break the inner package (nope when it came time to pitch still not broken) starting to not like this delivery system. So I opened the bag and...

    WLP565 confusion..

First time using this yeast. I use brewers friend for recipe's and don't understand WLP565 and FG. I Google WLP565 and read all the post's about stalling, temps, FG, etc. But when I plug this yeast into BF the FG: is 1.018, which if that's where it finishes I'm OK with that, looking at brewing...

Twist on a honey cream ale

With signing up for a membership with Thrive Market you get 20oz of raw honey. So I looked around to see if there was possibly something else I could use, and ordered the Kamut Berries, so how does this recipe look. Recipe Type: All Grain BIAB Yeast: Wyeast Headwaters Batch Size...

    Starter attempt Omegang Abbey dregs

The first time I tried this I was very new to brewing, and thought I had read up enough to try and make this happen - no way complete fail. First time I had too much wort, OG was to high, no stir plate, attempted to mash grains for a starter, etc. Hopefully this first step will work. Second...

    So many leftover specialty grains.

Was doing inventory so I could order my next malts. Holy smokes, now I know I probably should not have done this but to late now, just combined them sealed in food saver. About 10 small amounts of grains: 1 - 4 oz each ended up with 2 pounds - kitchen sink specialty grains. Victory...

    Recipe experiment critique

I have both these yeasts in the fridge from previous batches and wonder if combining the two would raise the combined flocculation a little and lower the attenuation a little. I read the little White Labs white paper, and just said why not.. Recipe Type: All Grain BIAB Yeast: 1/2 WLP002 & 1/2...

    Calypso and Meridian Pale Ale

Have never tried these hops so hoping others may have more insight for this recipe. Calypso has all kinds of flavor descriptions including the most common of apple, pear, and citrus. We also seen melon and tropical fruits which would make sense based on its name. We also read about people...

    Problems with my propane burner.

Brew day went as planned until.... I go outside to boil and I tried all kinds of adjustments and still could not get past the black soot/orange flame. Never could get the blue as primary with just a little yellow. I have always used this setup. Any ideas.
