Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

Man, you can't go wrong no matter what. I've made this twice now. First batch in mid July 2015, second mid September 2015. Just pulled a few bottles out tonight, and still have a couple plus a 1/2 gallon jug. It most definitely gets better with age. As far as carbonation, I had little to...

PLEASE let the Northern Brewer buy-out be a hoax!

I guess if it can be 5:00 somewhere, no matter the actual time. Can't it be April 1st somewhere, no matter the actual date? :mug:

PLEASE let the Northern Brewer buy-out be a hoax!

Just ask if they wanna buy an ounce...then you know who your neighbors REALLY are!

    My bottle washer

This is awesome! It might just need to be my next project. I'm sure the wife would be thankful to have the tub back.

New post a picture of your pint

Ever wanted to lay someone out, and take your beer back! That was me yesterday, when at a cookout, someone took a sip of my 70IBU IPA, and said...."Wow, this reminds me of Bud Light!" This is my beauty, and it's 1000x better than that nasty swill!

    Dry hopping in secondary.

I thought the same thing. I never had the intention of waiting a full 8 weeks. I should have followed my gut and skipped the secondary, but hindsight is 20:20, unless you've had one too many. :tank: I can honestly say, this is the first time they've run me wrong. They helped me tweak a...

    Dry hopping in secondary.

That's what I've been reading lately. Shame on me for blindly following my LHBS, advice without further research. Thanks Indian_villager!

    Dry hopping in secondary.

After doing a good bit of research on HBT and the entire interwebs, I feel I've been lead astray by my LHBS. Picked up an IPA kit as part of a sale about a month ago. Brewed it for National Homebrew Day (though a week late). Primary for about a week and a half, then racked to secondary...

Kenmore Chest Freezer (12909) build with two towers

This is great! I wonder how SWMBO would take it, if I emptied our little chest freezer and turned it into a keezer. :D :mug::tank: Something like this is definitely on the list of things to do once we finally upgrade to a house! *SUB'D*

Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

I was only in my carboy for about 1.5 to 2 months. Then I racked 4 gallons back into the cleaned/sanitized 1 gallon AJ containers that the original juice came in. Put those in the back of my pantry closet to chill for a while. The last gallon I bottled (no priming so as not to create bombs)...

Pappy`s Pub Cider - Award Winner!

If you followed the recipe...it'll be plenty sweet on its own. 10lbs of sugar is a hefty amount. Fair warning, it will need a while to mellow out. Mine is going on 8 months, and just now getting to the perfect balance of sweet/Apple/rocket fuel.

    Texas Two-Step/Split Boil

Got my new kettle in last night. Can't wait to add some markings and get my first batch through it! But first....anyone know how to properly clean organic growth out of a new kettle? (See attached)

How to add permanent volume markings to a kettle (illustrated)

Just got my new 10 gallon kettle in today. Will be marking it up this weekend!! Before I can do that though, can anyone give me some ideas on how to remove rather large organic particles from my new pot? LoL

    Texas Two-Step/Split Boil

Wow! That is awesome. I've done some CL browsing, but brewing is either not as big here as I think, or its so big no-one wants to give up their stuff! HAHA I got lucky with the excuse. My in-laws came down for the weekend, and spontaneously gave the wife $250 for no apparent reason. So I...

    Texas Two-Step/Split Boil

Awesome video man! I'll do 1-3 gallon BIAB batches to test out a recipe before going whole hog on a 5 gallon batch. Luckily....I was able to talk SWMBO into getting a 10 gallon kettle for a decent price! It should arrive tomorrow! Just in time to brew a batch for National Homebrew Day!!!

    Texas Two-Step/Split Boil

That's what I've been doing. Sadly, it seems there is a VERY limited supply of them in my area. Lame-O!! Found a wins who said she had a 10 for $20, turned out to be a 5. Bummed!

    Texas Two-Step/Split Boil

Who knew Doofenshmirtz had such a knack for delicious steaks! :mug: Thanks for the info on doing 3-gal partial boils. I will give that a go while shopping for a 10gal kettle! :tank:

    Texas Two-Step/Split Boil

So, I managed to talk SWMBO into letting me build an MLT ($25 Ice Cube 6 w/ CPVC manifold) and have been on the look-out for a decently priced 10gal boil kettle I can port and valve myself. Sadly, it appears I have reached the limit of my allowable funds for the time being, so my MLT is sitting...
