I just kegged a 6 month old cider with using edinburgh ale and cider yeast mix, and its delicious! I have a beautiful yeast cake i would hate to waste, so I'm looking for suggestions on what to rack on top? Braggot? Cyser? Perry? Mead?
You should be good after 15 days. Remember there will still be some fermentation in the bottle. maybe check the brix or gravity and see what surgery you have left... if theres still some fructose in there you might not have to add as much sugar to the bottling bucket. that way you prevent the...
Did you freeze the berries before racking onto them? I froze mine to break the cell walls open and then tossed them in 151 to sanitize and let them drain. then i let them thaw for a while at the bottom of the sanitized fermenter before I racked on top of them. Worked perfectly! I would also...
you mean on the burners? I did notice a smell when i was cutting the legs off... the powder coating on the tower itself should not get hot enough to burn.
This week I got a bunch of stuff ready to go. Top burner is done same as the bottom, I got the electric ignition wiring ready to install and i got the brass fittings and the extension hose ready to go.
This is the extension hose I bought Bayou Classic 0-30 PSI Adjustable Regulator/Hose...
Ok so the weather finally broke and I had a chance to work on this tower. The tower inside is 20" wide and I purchased 16" burners. i cut the legs off of the burners using my oscillating tool. I used 2" L brackets to attach the burners to the brackets in the tower. I'm planning on using the...
this thing had probably almost 100 lbs of computer equipment that i had to pull out... its solid steel and super strong. Should have no problem holding some beer.
Although there is the cheap way to build a tier system... I really never liked the wood builds. they just don't look at elegant...
I thought about that. I'm also not sure of this coating on the steel on the server cabinet is fire proof. Therefore I'm actually going to get some 16" stand burners and rig them up inside instead of building stands from the existing steel. I'll be able to use the existing steel to build a...
Hello fellow brewers! Like some of you I found that the biggest expense when it comes to all-grain brewing is the brew sculpture, and thats the primary reason I never went that route (until now). Even those out there that build the three burner or even the towers themselves, it still requires...
sorry to stir up an old thread, but I just aquired a full size IBM cabinet and i want to go all grain. Any pics of the finished product? I want to make sure i can use this thing before i lug it home.
Very true, but you may loose some when racking. Who is up for trying it? split a primary in half... one rack to secondary on berries, the other do secondary and then rack to tertiary on berries. see what produces better berry flavor ha ha
I never said that the fake berry flavor would be good... Personally I think it's nasty. Ha ha. But when you are late in secondary and find there is not the right flavor profile, I don't know if it's a good idea to add fruit. The key time for adding fruit is right when the yeast are starting...
hmm i just brewed a 2.0 version of mine with blackberries and i let it go a little long in secondary and i was disappointed with the lack of berry taste.... maybe its the blackberries? I used frozen like i did with the raspberries. oh well. I would just let it chill out for several weeks...
ah, yep that will do it. it happens. thats good that you got a nice strong start to fermentation. ha ha I almost always do my primary in my carboys with a blow off tube now. it all depends on the yeast i guess... even if you think its a safe OG. good luck. it will turn out well I'm sure...
Did you add the berries to the primary? If you choose that path, you need a blow off tube and a carboy. When I did this... Brew and ferment in primary for about a week. Then add berries when you rack to secondary. I just did a blackberry wheat this way. It looks so good. Can't wait to...
