    Artesian Well Water

I recently brewed several recipes using the water from a local artesian well. It worked out fine and the beer tasted good, not really any different from my home well water. But then I didn't have two of the same recipe beers to compare, one with artesian well water and one with my home well...

    LME in bags

One of the vendors I buy recipes from also puts their LME into bags. It's always been kinda of a pain to make sure to get all the LME out of the bag. So something I've been doing lately, is to use a big plastic clip, that you use to keep potato or corn chip bags sealed/closed. It works great, as...

What do you drink when you come home?

After coming home from work, then getting farm chores done, then coming back in the house. I usually grab a cold home-brewed beer, of whatever type I've got in the fridge as I brew multiple types.

Fermenters - is there anything new??

Yeah, that's one reason I like the BrewDemon 3G and the 1G glass jugs as I like watching the fermentation process too. I've not had any problems with the 1G recipes in the glass jugs, so I guess the light isn't causing any issues. I also like having spigots in my fermenters as it makes bottling...

Fermenters - is there anything new??

Hello All. I'm looking at replacing my plastic 6.5G fermenter buckets. I've had/used them for several years now. They've got stains of course, but after cleaning them from the last fermenting/bottling I did last weekend, I'm now noticing some deep scratches too. They're still working good I...

    Hobknocker Dark English Ale

I just seen this topic, otherwise I'd posted earlier. I've bought and brewed that recipe from Boomchugalug / Jaspers Homebrewing a couple times, 5G & 1G versions. One of my favorite recipes from them.

What do you do with your spent grains?

I re-bag them, put them in the freezer for my wife to use for baking. Occasionally the chickens get some. Hadn't thought about sharing them with the goats, I'm sure they'd like the grains as much or even more so than the chickens.

Got free bottles to give away? Post 'em here!

There hasn't been any posts here for awhile. So I guess I need to share some of the bottles I've got and have been given. Southeast Missouri, Cape Girardeau, MO. Area. 12oz bottles, assorted brands, quite a few are Sam Adams along with other brands. All ready to be used, cleaned, labels removed.

Top 5 Extract kits and who makes them?

Hmm, don't really have a top 5 recipes. I order 5G Extract recipe kits from Jasper's HomeBrewing Supply, Northern Brewer, Midwest Supplies, Adventures in HomeBrewing, Austin HomeBrew Supply among others. Jasper's recipe descriptions are usually pretty interesting/funny.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

Well, here's my holiday brew for Christmas, as I Brewed a Brickwarmer Holiday Red Ale Saturday. It's a 5G Extract w/steeping grains recipe from Northern Brewer. Unfortunately it won't be ready in time for drinking on Christmas Day. All well, I guess.
