Starting a Seminar Series, looking for input

Hey Fellow Homebrewers! So I am a fairly well versed biologist and homebrewer and in my area I get a lot of questions from people regarding the details and science behind the brewing process. I really enjoy talking about it and have been toying with the idea of starting an advanced home...

Repairing a silver braze on Keggle

Alright, so I examine the hole and smacking it was a no-go. it was about the size of a pinhead so it was too big to flatten out. However, I got the flux friday and did a reflow of the braze today and it worked flawlessly. didn't even need any extra brazing wire, it just smoothed right out.

Not yet. I actually got the stuff to do the thing and the eBay company accidentally didn't send me the flux...

Choosing a burner on a budget

So I was having trouble getting my stuff to boil fast enough here in the cold of canada, so I bought this: http://propanegear.com/mr-heater-all-purpose-propane-torch-kit500-000-btu-hr/ I then bought a brass 1/4"NPT 90degree elbow and 3" pipe nipple so I could turn the head of it sideways, I...

Repairing a silver braze on Keggle

Hey all, So I'm looking for opinions here. I have tri-clamp fittings that I have attached to my kettles using silver brazing rod (56% silver), and one of the seams has a pin hole in it that has started to leak. I assume this is because it was filled with flux and the first heating run caused...

    Portable GFCI Spa Panel

You 100% can do what you said, and it would be the easiest option... In my case I had two issues that made it impossible to change the breaker 1) I wasn't allowed to change the panel. I rent from a friend that gives me pretty free range but some things are a no go. And 2) the 30amp gfci...

    Portable GFCI Spa Panel

Here's pics if the setup. I bought the L14-30 a while ago and was waiting on it forever. Which is why I did the plug in the outlet box first, I wanted to use the system. When the plug and connector came I switched it on my panel and my controller...

    Brew Stand Project

I tested the system using water today and I maintained a pretty good flow through the system with it so I am so far impressed... We will see how it goes when I do an actual batch of beer on Monday.

    Portable GFCI Spa Panel

I actually ordered one of the L14-30R connectors, I have it on the system now... works like a charm.

    Portable GFCI Spa Panel

Alt - The outside measurements of the side are 8" x 2.25" on the sides and 5" x 2.25" on the top and bottom. because of the way the breaker is setup, you can't put a plug in the top. As you will see in the pictures that the ground bar and neurtal bars are in the center of each side, making it...

    Portable GFCI Spa Panel

There's not a whole lot of room to put a receptacle there. But you might be able to do one out the side. I will send measurements when I dig the box out of my brew storage. I chose 4 wire because I am eventually moving to a larger panel that will use 4 wire, but currently my controller is only 3...

    Cooler as a Boil Kettle

Hey All, Been doing some theorycrafting... Thought I would pose the question here. People are starting to get into the idea of using plastic containers as boil kettles, but has anyone considered using a cooler as a boil kettle? I can think of a few reasons both for and against, but I am...

    Portable GFCI Spa Panel

Alright, so I asked bunch of questions and got no answers on the forums, so I started digging into it on my own and have figured out what is needed to make a portable GFCI for an electric brewery, and a basic understanding of how a GFCI breaker works within an electric brewery. I have decided...

I'm not sure. I'll let you know when I do a test run. I haven't had a chance to try it out.
