    Star San in my Maibock!

Uhh-oh! This is in secondary and fermentation is non-existent. My FG was right on though. This is @ 6.8abv. Once all of that star san was mixed in, not a single bubble came out of the airlock.

    Star San in my Maibock!

This is great you guys! I really thought I had messed this one up beyond repair. Thank you MrHopScotch, day_tripper, kh54s10 and badlee! I now feel much more positive about this. I love the RDWHAHB too! I never heard of that before. One last thing...the color of this is quite odd. I'm sure it...

    Star San in my Maibock!

Great point! I try to start with cold and slowly build up to hot with the star san. This carboy was my dad's from 1972! By the time I transferred, the carboy was 55.7 according to my thermometer. However, the water inside was probably much warmer. Thank you for filling me in on the shock...

    Star San in my Maibock!

You think it will taste ok?! It wasn't much over my 5gallon mark on the carboy. Yep, it's too late for sure! I can always keg it, carb it, and make it my own sparing everyone else's taste buds! I really wanted to bottle this one. Oh well, star san happens. Thanks for replying. May I please ask...

    Star San in my Maibock!

I am so angry right now, I could kill my brother. I asked my brother to swirl the star san around in my glass carboy that I added hot water and star san to. Then I told him to dump it and not worry about the foam. Well, I foolishly thought he was listening! He left about a half inch of it in the...

    Foam from kegerator

Go to 3/16 ID tubing, 8-10 feet. It works great for me @ 38-40F.

    Foam from kegerator

I changed my brew lines from 1/4" ID to 3/16" ID and have reduced foam dramatically. My lines are only 8 feet as well.

In a rough spot due to my bad timing. Should I keg or let sit!?

Hahaha! You're right they can't swim! One most certainly died from the "sweet exhaust!" Nice point about the lower side of optimum too! I used what would be a new yeast for me. California Labs I believe? Thanks much! I appreciate it all!

In a rough spot due to my bad timing. Should I keg or let sit!?

It's an S airlock. I checked it again just now. There was a dead fruit fly under the lid cap. The cap has tiny holes! Now that's not cool at all! How the hell did it make it into the airlock? I think I will run a blow off and keep the humidity at 60ish so I can run that tube into a deep bucket...

In a rough spot due to my bad timing. Should I keg or let sit!?

I can actually lower the room to 40F. Not the 58F I stated previously.

In a rough spot due to my bad timing. Should I keg or let sit!?

Ok, I will leave it. I was leaning that way. I can lower the temp to around 58F. The "yeasty" flavor has happened once before with an apricot ale. Perhaps it was the apricot as the beer keeps getting better in bottles with time. Maybe I just don't like apricots and confused the sour taste as...

In a rough spot due to my bad timing. Should I keg or let sit!?

Well, I pretty much screwed up on this one! I wasn't thinking ahead. I have 6 gallons of cream ale. Well, it was a cream ale but after a week I moved it into a secondary with 6 pounds of raspberries that I picked up north on my land. So, I call it "Raspy Ale." I have made it three summers in a...

    Shredded Unsweetened Coconut

Use fresh coconut! If you can find a Mexican grocery store, you can get 3 for .99! You can even get them just dried. Crack them, grate them and cook them over medium heat, 5, until nice and golden brown. They need to be toasted anywhere from 10-15 minutes and you need to watch the coconut like a...

Maybe I just can't find it...anyone use coconut or rum extract as a mild flavor enhan

Sorry, but the whole set up of this site is awkward in my opinion. I can't post properly or delete posts properly. Sometimes I post and it says there was an error. So, I save and re-post only to find there was no error and it was posted twice usually in an odd area as stated by the last guy that...
