    Peaty Foreign extra stout attempt

Hi! Thank you very much indeed! I might not use the peat malt at all in this batch, as I don't want to condition it for it long before drinking it. I do love the flavour of peat though, so I might do a small batch with some (2 ounces?) in it. I do know that this isn't the perfect yeast for the...

    Peaty Foreign extra stout attempt

No I haven't. Do you think I should get rid of it altogether? Thanks!

    Peaty Foreign extra stout attempt

HI! Thanks a lot for your reply. I tweaked my recipe accordingly (see below). I hope the grain bill will have enough diastatic power to convert all the starches. Recipe: Peat Foreign Extra Stout Style: Foreign Extra Stout TYPE: All Grain Recipe Specifications --------------------------...

    Switching to 15 gal batches

Thank you very much indeed for your very helpful replies. It seems that getting a 30 gallon kettle would be the way to go. Thanks again!

    Switching to 15 gal batches

Hi all! I'd like to increase my batch volumes and would be very grateful if you could help me choose which equipment to buy (actually a present from my parents-in-law!). This is my current setup (sorry about the non-round numbers, we use the metric system here): - average batch volume...

Adjusting water profile w/o all the relevant data

Hi everyone! I'm trying to get into water profile tweaking (mostly in order to brew a stout), but I don't seem to be able to get all the relevant data I need from my local authority. The water report I have mentions chloride (1.9 mg/l) and sulfate (4.5 mg/l), as well as pH (8.15) and...

    Adjusting hop quantities

Brilliant! Seems to work on the desktop version too. What I did was manually change the bittering hop amount to reach the desired number of IBU's, but your solution is even better!

    Pilsner Urquell-like attempt

Thank you for your advice. I'll get a vial of liquid yeast and save the dry yeast for later. Right now the temperature in my garage is just fine for lagering. I'll have to find a way of raising the temp for the diacetyl rest. Thanks again!

    Adjusting hop quantities

I do - sometimes - use BS (the desktop version). I tried doing what you said but it seems the software does change the AA percentage, but doesn't change the amount of hops accordingly. Am I doing something wrong?

    Pilsner Urquell-like attempt

Hi everyone, I'm a novice brewer - I've been brewing ales exclusively so far (8 brews, something like that - mostly all-grain). My housemate, who's a fan of Czech beers, would like me to try and brew a Pilsner Urquell-like beer. Before brewing a lager for the first time, I'd like to make sure...

    Adjusting hop quantities

Hello everyone, I seem to have problems when adapting a recipe I found on the Internet to my own hops. In a nutshell, my issue concerns alpha acids: what should I do when my hops' AA's a different from those that the recipe uses? What I've been doing so far was scaling bittering hops'...

    Yeast harvesting & duration

Thank you very much for your quick and concise reply, flars. I just have a final question regarding my issue: when I make the next starter and enter the approriate data in the Yeast Calculator, will the production date I'll enter be that of the original vial or that of the starter the yeast was...

    Yeast harvesting & duration

Hello everyone! This is my second post on this wonderful forum, and it has to do with yeast starters, again. In order to reduce my costs, I thought I'd try harvesting yeast, as described on the Brülosophy website. Following the information I got from Homebrew Dad's Online Yeast Starter...
