Best heater for 7 gallon conical?

Overlapping posts... A heat tape or heat wire might be an ideal choice for you. I think that's your ticket. Now you just need a way to stick it on there.

Best heater for 7 gallon conical?

Looking at the size of a 7 gal now... I doubt a Fermwrap would be small enough. I think your plan would be the way to go. You might not even need two. I have less than 50 watts on a 14 gal fermentor. I just did a saison that stayed at 86 for a week in a basement that was in the mid 60s...

Best heater for 7 gallon conical?

I used Fermwrap heaters. They are not cone shaped but I just wrapped them around the back side of the cone. On my 14 gal conicals I did have to cut them about 4" shorter which was easy to do. Just make sure you cut at the same spot on each side and put some electrical tape over the end of the...

New 27 Gal MoreBeer Conical & Arduino Based Temp Controller

Thanks, I'll be kegging everything in the 3 fermentors this weekend. Then I can get back at it and hopefully eradicate the remaining bugs. After that I want to add bubble counters to the program. Then I can see the inputs (temperatures) and outputs (fermentation activity) real time on a graph...

New 27 Gal MoreBeer Conical & Arduino Based Temp Controller

Well, last night was a late night and I got the ESP8266 wifi module installed and working. It took me a lot of searching to do this. Most tutorials are how to use JUST the ESP8266 connected to some IOT thing, not using it as a wifi module for an Arduino. Those that did use the ESP8266, I coud...

New 27 Gal MoreBeer Conical & Arduino Based Temp Controller

It looks like I have a stable version with all required temp control functionality. I needed to get this finished up before next weekend because I'll be putting everything to the test. Brewing two 20 gallon batches on Sunday. Here's the plan for my Irish Red recipe: 10 gal fermented with...

    DIY conical chilling(temp control)

Alright, so I couldn’t handle not knowing… -1# of ice has roughly 160,500 joules of energy to give up during the melting process -11 Gal of beer will require roughly 116,500 joules of energy to cool 1 degree. -So it would roughly take ¾# of ice to cool the fermentor one degree This is just to...

    DIY conical chilling(temp control)

Here is a link to a DIY peltier cooling system similar to the MB unit. I think the glycol jacketed option would be cheaper and definitely has more cooling power if you make an AC glycol chiller. Unless you are a lot more patient than I am, I don't think you'll be happy with pumped icewater...

New 27 Gal MoreBeer Conical & Arduino Based Temp Controller

Thank you for the compliments. This is really my first foray into the Arduino world so I’m learning a lot as I go. The posted code has been revised, broken, fixed, trialed, and more bugs have been identified… So you can take a look but it is not final by any means. I will post code again when I...

New 27 Gal MoreBeer Conical & Arduino Based Temp Controller

I ended up answering my own question tonight. I wrapped a thermistor wire in aluminum foil and the standard deviation went up 17x from the baseline with the 110v power off. Then I grounded the aluminum foil shielding and it went down to 1/2 the baseline standard deviation. GOLDEN!!! Standard...

New 27 Gal MoreBeer Conical & Arduino Based Temp Controller

I am finding vastly different standard deviations in the temperature values between zones where the thermistor wire is stretched out (like inserted into the fermentor thermowell) and those that are coiled up for storage. The ones that are stretched out see a 6x increase in standard deviation...

New 27 Gal MoreBeer Conical & Arduino Based Temp Controller

Greetings folks, I have not posted on any brewing forums for years and years but I’ve got a new project that I figure some people may be interested in. Background: I bought two MoreBeer 12 gal fermenters back in 2008. I then made an AC unit glycol chiller for them based on “Backyard...

    Single Tier Brew Stands?

A couple of notes on your parts list. -To my knowledge you won't be able to use the banjo burners with any automated gas valve that includes a pilot light/thermocouple. The Banjo burners are for high pressure propane and the gas valves like you'd find on a furnace or hot water heater are all...
