The kind we grow in Central PA, that grow well, are Nugget, Cascade, Magnum, and Columbus. Galena seems to do well too, but I'll have to wait till next year to be sure.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who as attempted to build their own harvester. This winter we'll be doing just that using specs from the UV harvester and some other ideas that are floating around. I'd love to buy a 3060, just can't afford it with how small we are (1/2 acre).

Dehumidifing the hops is the goal of drying them. If you do it without heat you'll keep oils that usually are lost. The oast I am working on has no heat source and only uses a dehumidifier to bring the hops to the right moisture content.
