There is a shop in Victoria called Hamilton Hops and Grains. If you are on facebook, there is a homebrew group based out of Vic called brewvic. There are likely people on there that could help you find s more local shop...
Hello to all,
I have just had a very enjoyable can of Bavaria 8.6 Black beer, and would like to ask if anyone can point me to a recipe here in the database of something similar... (I am rather newbish with darker beers ... :)
I placed an order on Monday night, and the package was in my mailbox this afternoon. My first order of hops online.... 10 pounds of hops in 1-pound packs, total price for hops, taxes, and shipping ... less than $50 :)
I don't know what you mean by 2 litre demijohn, but I wonder if it is suitable for bottling... My understanding (and limited experience so far) is that room temp takes about 2 to 3 weeks to see decent carbonation build up.
Patience ... :)
Would this model be 'good enough' for home brew use?

This sounds like it might be similar to (same as??) umeshu , which is a plum/apricot infused liquor.
A homemade version can be made with vodka, unripe plums or apricots, and hard rock sugar, left in a closed vessel for months.
First off... Thanks to all for the info. I have learned SO much from the forum over the past year or two...
Second - by ''forum experts'', I meant pretty much everyone on the forum, as I (still) know next to nothing :)
cheers!
I hope I can ask a question here ... Would the forum experts suggest to just use the entire contents of the jars pictured above on a new brew, OR would you drain off some/most of the 'beer' in the jar (the dark, upper layer) and just add the remaining contents (the 2 lower layers of trub and...
