PID Temperature Controller SSR Fan Problem

Also, the only reason I wanted the fan to shut on with the SSR is I also use this to sous vide. That rig employs a cooler (my old mash tun before I saw the light and convert to BIAB). With that system, once at temp, the cooler only looses a degree or two per hour and the RIMS tube is only on for...

PID Temperature Controller SSR Fan Problem

Currently, I just have one small hole drilled in the back. I was going to see how much heat this thing generated before I figure out air flow. At 120V, I didnt expect it to get too hot with the current setup. It did run on my BIAB rig for about 20 minutes before it started shutting on and off...

PID Temperature Controller SSR Fan Problem

Below is a picture of my recently built PID driven temp controller. I have a fan attached to the heat sink of the SSR. I want the fan on when there is power to the SSR. So I attached it to the DC input side of the SSR. And this works, almost. When the fan is attached in this way, the PID (Mypin...

Adjustable height, spring loaded, rotating sparge redux

Tested it for 8+ hours at sparge temp. Works extremely well. Also spins at very low pressure for a slow sparge. I use a pump but gravity shouldn't be a problem with this design.

Adjustable height, spring loaded, rotating sparge redux

Another bored weekend... A 1/4 inch S.S. tube rests inside a 5/16 inch that rests inside a 1/2 inch. The 5/16 inch tube has a couple of o-rings to secure the connection inside the 1/2 inch. The white tops are compression ferrules. If you ream out the tops of the tubes they fit snug...

Adjustable height, spring loaded, rotating sparge...

That design was flawed. It relied on a spinning brass hose fitting. Worked great at temps below 140. When the temp got above that it would stop spinning. Not sure exactly why. This design is flawless. A 1/4 inch S.S. tube rests inside a 5/16 inch that rests inside a 1/2 inch. The 5/16...
