    Is no rolling boil bad?

If you like your beers and you are winning medals in competition with them why change? If it ain't broke don't fix it!

    Crazy yeast bag idea?

I have a question: Since fermentation produces heat how are you going to keep your wort cool in an insulated fermenter?
  3. R

Siphon or just dump it in?

Dumping the wort in thru a strainer will mix oxygen into the wort...which is a good thing before fermentation.

Old Honey Cream Ale Kit Brewed -- Survey Says...

Well it could be 2005, or newer but DME keeps well. I found a can of LME about that age in my garage. It looked more like a tin football than a can. I didn't have the courage to open it, i donated it to the landfill.

Old Honey Cream Ale Kit Brewed -- Survey Says...

That's not the production date, it's the copyright date for the label. The little c in a circle is a dead giveaway.

    First Timer - Failure

Fermenting a 1 gallon recipe in a 5 gallon bucket is not a good idea, too much head space. for a 1 gallon recipe a 2 gallon bucket is better.

    Store bottles on their side??

My grandfather stored some of his homebrew under the bed. It was really interesting when they started blowing up in the middle of the night. He couldn't get out of bed, too much glass on the floor.

    Homebrew Class Liability

Waivers are almost worth the paper they are written on.

    New Primary Fermenters

I have never heard of a 'food grade' trash can.

I didn't dissolve the DME in my starter - am I boned?

You don't have to boil or even heat water to dissolve DME in it, but you do have to boil the water DME mixture to sterilize it.

    Sanding bottles

Sanding glass will leave scratches in the glass. A scratch is a weak point in the glass. Will they blow up? I don't know. I have found Naptha/ Lighter fluid/ Coleman fuel to be very effective in removing non water soluble label glues.

    Name that floater!

    Sunspot?

    Sparkling Wine in beer bottles

Crown caps for beer bottles are plastic lined, the bottle contents never touch the metal.
