Returned to homebrewing, brand-new round 2

Hey All, After being away for a long time, I'm back to play. Ordered up Northern Brewer's new brewer kit thingy w/ the Amber, and am tossing in 1 tsp cayenne, 1/2 tsp ea ground black pepper and chipotle powder @ 55min. Wish me luck for my Chipotle Pepper Amber (extract) batch!

Want To Try BIAB - Do I Have The Procedure Correct?

Hi All! As the title states, I am wondering if I understand BIAB correctly, so I will list out the steps as I understand them, let me know if I'm correct, missing something, or other :) Thanks everyone! 1.) Heat up ~1.25qts / lb of grain to a temp that, once grains are added, hits 152-155...

American Pale Ale 15 Minute Cascade Pale Ale

It's been 11 days since I brewed this up, and I just took a gravity reading. Inside, it looks like it still has krausen on top, kinda like a marshmallow crust consistency, gravity reading is 1.030, OG was 1.054. Stuck fermentation?

Have I Been Doing It Wrong?!

Hi Everyone, Fairly new extract + steeping grains stovetop brewer here (6 batches). I have a fear I may be brewing wrong! Or at least incorrectly (because at the end of the day [fermentation + bottling period], I still have beer). Here's how I brew: 1.) Heat up ~2.75 gallons to 155, put...

Thanks Justin! I'm super excited about it! From what I understand, the Irish Moss helps clear the beer.

American Pale Ale 15 Minute Cascade Pale Ale

Hi all! Love this thread, and am eager to try my hand at the shorter brew time. I am planning a 3gallon boil size, 5 gallon batch, 30 minute brew time. What do you guys think of this? Did I try to put too much in one recipe? Ingredients: ------------ Amt Name...

    1st recipe + 1st late addition try

Hi everyone! I am fairly new to brewing, I only have about 5 batches under my belt. So far, I have used recipes from my LHBS, and one I found online. My last brew I modified the scotch ale recipe from my LHBS a little, and I'm eagerly awaiting bottling (gravity samples tasted excellent!)...
