    almound joy ale

The baking chocolate would be good for the chocolate part. You could use cream of coconut added at flame out for the coconut, which will boost the ABV because that stuff is sweet. Not sure about the almond, extract maybe?

    First brew

I've alway done a secondary just to get some additional clarification in my beer. The only problem with using the keg for secondary or carbonating with priming sugar in the keg is you will have a lot of sediment fall to the bottom for the dip tube to pick up for your first pour. If you are...

    lets see your full Fermenters

It was an extract kit given to me as a gift for Christmas. It had dark malt DME AND LME. it was a cheap kit though, not even sure what type hops were included. Don't have much expectations for it! But I'll let you know.

    Building My First Home Brewery

I can't speak about the kettle but the starter kit is top notch. It's what I have, and started with the Caribou slobber, which was awesome!

    Midwest supplies cream stout( oak/bourbon)

Update, been kegged now for 2 weeks. This stuff is great! A little heavy on the oak but it is mellowing out. Mouthfeel is a little light for me considering it is a stout but very good flavor, the bourbon really stands out.

    Partial boils

I'm fairly new so no expert.... But from what I've read and learned I don't think it will hurt. The larger the boil volume the less darkening of the wort which will result in a lighter more true to color beer and you also get better hop utilization with larger boils. But either way you will...

Added this to my cream stout after the foam started rising into my airlock to prevent a huge mess. Blowoff tubes may be in my future for most of my stronger brews for peace of mind!

    lets see your full Fermenters

This is my second batch ever so I'm stepping out on a limb a little bit here, but another sample this morning after all the syrup had a chance to dissolve into the beer and it was really good.

    lets see your full Fermenters

It's a Midwest supplies recipe. It's an extract kit with specialty grains. It comes with a small bottle of grade A syrup that you add to the boil. When I racked to secondary an tasted a sample the fermentation had taken most of the maple taste and aroma out. So last night I took another small...

    lets see your full Fermenters

On the left is a maple syrup dark ale, will be adding extra grade B syrup in the next few days and cold crashing once fermentation begins to retain more aroma from the syrup. On the right is a two day old cream stout that I'm attempting a bourbon barrel stout clone from BBC.

    Midwest supplies cream stout( oak/bourbon)

Got a late start on this but have it in primary right now and first sample was great. Will be adding oak and bourbon to secondary in the next week or so. Will keep posting updates. Question: what will 16oz. Bourbon do to my ABV? OG was 1.050

Anyone do this extract with a grain bag with any luck? New to the hobby and this beer sounds awesome and would like to try. Just not into AG yet.
