    Off Flavor

In the spirit of reporting back, I have a bit of an update. For my batch after this, I tried to keep my brewday textbook. After filling up my fermenter, I had a little left over so I thought what the hell, sanitized a 64 oz carboy and pitched half a packet of dry yeast that I had. For the main...

    Off Flavor

Thanks all. I tend to use jugs of bottled water, though Ive done some batches with water from the fridge filter. I dont recall which batches used what water. I will try improving my water and see what that does. Maybe I can narrow things down at least. Thanks again

    Off Flavor

I'm having a consistent issue with a specific off flavor. I think its green apple/cider. It happens with pretty much every light/pale beer I make. I've let beers go longer and shorter. I've kept them bottled and condition for longer and shorter. All grain and extract. Seems that I end up with...

    Homebrew Related Phone Wallpapers

Are there any cool beer related wallpapers? I thought a live wallpaper of an airlock would be cool but I haven't found anything like that. Right now I just have a beer pouring, which is ok. Anything that you folks have come across? Thx

    Cider/Green Apple after primary

Safale 05. 2row and a little crystal 40. There was a slight taste, but the smell was more pronounced. Since its already in the fridge, I'm wondering if its better to leave it there to condition or if it makes more sense to get it back to room temp to condition. Thanks.

    Cider/Green Apple after primary

I should add that this is AG, so no additional sugars or extracts.

    Cider/Green Apple after primary

I just kegged a batch that had a cider/green apple smell when transferring to the keg. It was in the primary for 3 weeks. Keg has been in the fridge for about 12 hours, should I pull it out and leave at room temp for a couple weeks or just leave in the fridge? OG 1.049 finished at 1.012. Thanks...

    Krome Dispense Commercial Coupler

Does anybody have experience with Krome couplers for commercial kegs? I am looking at a Micro Matic coupler and I came across Krome. I read somewhere that Krome manufacturers Micro Matic but I wasn't sure if that is true. Assuming that is the case, I figure Krome should be a quality product. Thanks.

Mr Beer - Read all about it and ask questions

I'll do some Mr beer mixes here and there if it strikes my fancy and I feel like getting something brewed quickly. By quickly, I mean no long boils or steeping... just get a small batch in a fermenter on a Sunday morning when I have 45 minutes. With that, I let them ferment for 3-4 weeks and in...

What came in the mail for you today?

Stainless bayou burner came the other day and stainless bayou kettle with fittings came today. Pretty stoked to do a full boil instead of partial, in aluminum on the stove.

Pretty good deal on Burner and Kettle

I got what I feel was a pretty good deal on some equipment and I wanted to share. Bayou Kettles on sale at Overstock. They have a few configurations and sizes. After 10% off coupon code, I got an 8 gallon Stainless kettle with valve, thermometer and heat shield for $135...

    Edgestar Mini-regulator w/paintball CO2 tank

They sent the replacement and it has the smaller port like the original post. So now the adapter I have won't work, nor will the edgestar CO2 holder fit since its for my wider port regulator. Blah!!!! Now I have to go with the original design and get the adapter II and reducer. I even have an...

Virginia 3 Gallon Ball Lock Keg

Looks like AEB (Italian made keg), which is what you commonly see available as new.

    Edgestar Mini-regulator w/paintball CO2 tank

I assume the regulator is toast, I tried with a 16gr cartridge and it blew out the blowoff the second i pierce it. I contacted edgestar and they are kindly sending a replacement. I'm hoping that it wasn't something with installing a 20oz tank that messed up the Reg. I don't see how it could...

    Edgestar Mini-regulator w/paintball CO2 tank

It's really weird. If I remove the line, it just blows out the elbow where the line would be. It's like there is too much pressure or something is being tripped and gas is venting through the least restrictive route. I will try with a 16g cartridge again to see if the same thing happens, but I...

    Edgestar Mini-regulator w/paintball CO2 tank

Yeah, it's a new tank. It doesn't matter whether it's horizontal or vertical. It's like it's a blowoff valve or something on the back of the regulator. When I last used it with a 16gr cartridge, everything seemed fine; so I don't think it's a faulty regulator. As soon as I screw in the tank and...

    Edgestar Mini-regulator w/paintball CO2 tank

I don't know what's going on.... I connect the adapter to the regulator, then connect to the tank but it leaks out this valve thing in the back. If I remove the gas line that runs to the keg, then it leaks out where the line connects to the regulator. Everything fits fine, but I can't get it to...

    Edgestar Mini-regulator w/paintball CO2 tank

I think I figured it out though haven't confirmed but will order soon. I think the standard "the adapter" will work; often seen for co2 setups on aquariums and homebrew applications. It mates the paintball tank to standard CGA 320 fitting. As far as I can tell, the edgestar regulator that I have...

    Edgestar Mini-regulator w/paintball CO2 tank

Any one have any luck with this? My regulator is the same and I'm trying to use a bigger tank. TIA
