    Favorite conical??

So, I'm looking at conicals. Anyone have an opinion on the best one out there? Stainless, pressure transfers, sampling port, temp control available for glycol system, port for easy dry hoping, 10 gal batches, all are the requirements. SSbrewtech Chronical versus Spike CF10?? Thoughts?

what should I brew with my inventory...

I am planning a Saison https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f71/cottage-house-saison-254684/ for my next brew, but the yeast won't be here until next week. As it turns out, I will have a chance to brew tomorrow... so, I'll need to brew with the ingredients that I have on hand. Its a rainy day today so...

    Wyeast 3068

Have an ABS Weizenbock in the fermenter with this yeast. I put it in my fermentation chanber and set the temp to 18.7C (65.6F). 24 hours later I bumped it up a bit (usually start low and work my way up a little). Then, I read on here and in one of my books that this yeast tastes great...

hops, orange peel or other late additions....

When you add these things at flame out... How long do you keep them in the wort? Do they stay in there while cooling the wort then get filtered out when you transfer to primary? If you cool quickly, this seems like a very short period of time. Or should they not be filtered out and let them...

    rack from primary now?

So, here's the deal... I brewed the Patersbier kit from NB 2wks ago. It has been in my ferm chamber since then. I checked gravity friday and it was down to 1.010, I'll be checking another today. It seems 3wks on primary is pretty common. I was hoping to brew today, but don't have space in my...

First in the keg, second just brewed...

Pretty happy with my weekend! First batch transferred to the keg and carbing right now. Cleaned out the fermentation bucket and brewed a second batch. It went much more smoothly than the first batch. Only thing I screwed up was not getting an OG. I realized it right after I pitched the yeast...

how do you all take a sample for hydrometer?

So, Took my first gravity reading from the fermenter last night. I used a turkey baster. What a royal pain?! First question, is how do you all sterilize the baster? I did't have a bucket of starsan to put it in. I just sprayed it down inside and out from my spray bottle of starsan. But, then...

first brew question. temp and aging.

So I have had my beer in the fermenter for 9days now. Because of a screw-up, I pitched the yeast at 78-79 degrees, but the fermenter was immediately moved to my basement which was about 60 degrees. It bubbled wonderfully for 3-4days and tapered off. It suddenly has gotten colder over the past...

    Fermenterator and Kegerator... 2 projects...

Ok, I've managed to score again.... I had one fridge I was planning on using as my kegerator, but inherited another at no cost. SO, I think I should have a fermentation chamber too?! I've been searching the forums quite a bit about both projects and am just confusing myself I think, LOL...

    I don't like coffee... porter/stout question...

I don't like coffee. Can't stand the taste of it at all. My question is that every porter or stout I've tasted, tastes strongly of coffee. Are there any that don't, or is this just a part of the style? I need to avoid the styles if so! Thanks!

    Question about beer types/tastes...

As I'm getting into homebrewing now, I've realized I don't really know what many types of beer taste like. I see lots of recipe kits and read the descriptions, but don't really know what they really mean. AND, if I make a specific type, I don't really know whether I've done well or not. So...

    my first brew day... done...phew...

Well, I did it. First brew is in the fermenter in the cool basement. I was hoping to brew today, but with Sandy approaching wasn't sure I'd get to it. Had a break in the weather, though so I decided to go for it- not knowing when I'd get my next chance at it. Went well aside from a few...

    newb with kegs...

Just getting everything around for my first go at brewing. My father-in-law upon hearing of my plan to begin brewing offered some used kegs that were just sitting in his garage (he's not a brewer). He just dropped them off today. I had been thinking I'd need to replace EVERYTHING on them, but...

    begin with kegs?

Hi everyone.... Nice forum here! Favorite beers are Belgians! I've been interested in getting into home brewing for a while now. I have been hesitating as we were planning to move and I figured it would be a good thing for the new house. So, I've been reading and reading to prepare myself...
