This is what happened, sorry I didnt clarify enough. He entered an America Wheat, which won the AW,Blonde, and Fruit But no this was not a Mini-BOS. The second place of the "light hybrid" category won Silver BOS. But thanks it does help.

A friend and I entered a BJCP judged event. He won the American Wheat subcategory. The guy that got second place in the American Wheat category also got Silver BOS, while my buddy didn't place BOS. Is this something that happens often? I also won second place in the IPA category...

Great to hear there are other homebrewers out there! I'll report back to Drew next time I'm in the 'GH' about the popularity of the idea of forming a club. From what I inferred, this is still in the planning stages and still needs to get the approval of some higher ups at Growler Haus. Next...

What would you think about adding grits to the mash in conduction to the maize? I live near a grain millery (?) and they have some great local grits that I have been trying to figure out how to use in beer. And i think this is a great start. What do ya'll think?
