    Oxyclean

Yesterday I put some Oxyclean in a primary carboy and let it sit for 24hrs and I'm very impressed with how it has pretty much dissolved the hops of the sides of the carboy, amazing! I've been homebrewing for years and have heard the praises for Oxyclean and just never tried it.

    Clogged beer line

Ok, so, its been forever since I've been on this site and when I went to check my post I saw a link to some other similar post and found some info from them. I put the gas on the out tube and blasted it with CO2 and then put the beer line back on and poured the beer into a bucket (it had a...

    Clogged beer line

Does anyone know a certain pressure or technique to clear a clog in the out post or a clogged beer line? I'm new to kegging and have the dual tap system from midwest. I have an apple-wine in one keg (which is doing just fine) and a Belgian pale ale in the other (which is not flowing out of the...

    Howto: Capture Wild Yeast

Next time I wouldn't water down the wort. The higher alpha acids and high sugar content will keep unwanted things from growing in it, IMO. Just fill a jar with some wort, put a hop bag over it and let it sit.

    Howto: Capture Wild Yeast

I say screw the lab equipment and technique (IMHO). Unless you enjoy that kinda of think of course. Just treat it like a starter.

    What was your recipe?

    "Champagne"

I was thinking of making a "Champagne" using 2 pounds of sugar and 5 gallons of white grape juice (like ap ). Due to the Potassium Metabisulfate in the bottled juice, I was thinking of using the frozen concentrate. I was wondering if anybody had any experience with making something like this.

    Howto: Capture Wild Yeast

I started this experiment awhile ago and I got good results. I brewed a belgian strong ale last spring and filled a pint glass about halfway full of wort and put a hop bag over the top and let it sit outside last spring for about 3 to 5 days. I got some good growth, no mold or nasties and...

    JSP Malt Mill Emergency

I'm going to try that out. I need to start blasting it with air after I use it instead of brushing it off and letting it sit. Thanks for your help!

    JSP Malt Mill Emergency

I haven't brewed since the summer and I was going to today. I broke out my mill and its not cracking the grain. Both rollers spin, so they aren't rusted shut. Its like the free standing one just isn't getting the force it needs to roll from the grain. I crank the handle without grain and the...

Bottom of the airlock dropped into the carboy

With secondary you have to remember, there's alcohol in there and a bunch of yeast, so it becomes hard for other things to grow in it. This will be an awesome batch.

    First Yeast starter

Well, it depends on lots of things. What will be the OG of the beer your going to brew? Are you just trying to give the yeast a running start? If so, you could pitch the whole thing when its active (like within 12 hours). If you're trying to build up lots of yeast for a big beer, then you...
