    Joe's Ancient Orange Mead

I made this back in January everything went good yeast got it up to right at 10%, don't have numbers in front on me. My question is does jaom always come out so thick? I have had several meads mostly red stone but they are closer to wine mouth feel and mine is way thicker. I followed original...

    Angry orchard

Oh after trying it I agree but I am wanting to try and make something close to angry orchard. I haven't tried many ciders so it might be pretty standard. I normally make mead so trying to branch out.

    Angry orchard

Hey my wife loved this stuff has anyone come up with a similar clone? We tried reds last night and she didn't like it at all. I know the % will be higher with home made but we feel like the reds didn't have as much sweet apple flavor at angry orchard.

Does anyone on here recommend an app to help keep track with different batches? I have brew log and I guess it works but it is set up for beer.

    Jaom Variants

I just made and bottled my first mead. Now I'm wanting to try something easy like the jaom but with different fruits like blackberries, blueberries, peach or strawberry. It will be my second batch so seeing if someone could post some recipes.

    What have i done!?!?

Ok so I finally have it another shot and figured out what I was doing wrong. I used a normal stopper in the top with a drilled hole just big enough for my cane. I took it off slid the cane in just holding on by hand and it worked great. After watching a Few youtube videos I'm guessing with the...

    What have i done!?!?

Thanks I'm thinking I didn't have it low enough. I had jug on counter and bottle in sink. And the hose was clear no other problems I can see. Oh and I did end up trying just the hose without the cane.

    What have i done!?!?

Ok I know I have pulled a dumb ass move but I can't get my siphon to work, and have now stirred up the yeast (jaom). I made sure bottle is lower than gallon jug, I tried using a racking cane but gave up on that and went straight hose. As soon as I stop sucking it out it stops immediately.

    Quick jao question

I made my first batch jan 29 and it still is a little hazy but the fruit has dropped. Should I just wait until the end of this month (3rd month)? Worst case how long can I leave it in the jug without affecting flavor too badly? I know the wife wont try it unless its crystal clear.

    Jaom like recipes?

I have been reading the forums and read ken schramms book and finally made my fist mead. It is a Jaom, and I do eventually want to start making mead more conventionally. But for now was wondering if anyone has tried making something very similar to Jaom but substituted a different fruit or the...

    2 quick questions

Ok thanks. My concern is wife had some Chaucers and said it felt too think. She is on the moscato kick right now so sweet is a plus. I'm not 100% set on doing a jaom maybe a raspberry melomel. Does anyone have a yeast that they would recommend for a noob in 70+ degree heat.

    2 quick questions

With the bread yeast what's the mouth feel like on a jaom? Also I live in Texas so our house is usually pretty warm in the summer 72 to as high as 76 at times. What yeast would do good in that temp range and not give too think a mouth?

    Supermarket honey

I've seen that it is better to buy raw honey but I'm trying to be cheap for my first batch. Could I use the cheap stuff and flavor with fruit, probably raspberry, and still have a decent end product?
