New York Aged Hops for Lambics $5

Good point. Technically I'd say those are 'old', but I would wager that you have stored them properly. These hops are a little worse for the wear. They are ~3years old, oxidized and wreak of fresh cheese.

    Intertap beer faucets

Apparently something came out of the entire patent infringement thing because as of this morning (after the 20% sale) William's Brewing no longer has Intertap products on the site. Maybe Vent-Matic contacted them.

    New York Stout Faucet

Buffalo: Stainless steel stout faucet with plastic faucet tip. Works fine, but it does not have the top screw nor knurled nut to attach a handle to. I bought it off of here and upon arrival I realized that the top threads where the screw would go were threaded ( also the fact that some Loctite...

Anyone use Columbus hops for flavor or whirlpool additions

21st Amendment Back in Black-Black IPA uses Columbus (CTZ) hops for their flame out and whirlpool hops. If you can get it, try that to get an idea of the flavor, aroma, and taste.

    Short elements available?

Like JoshuaW said, is there any way you can make a false bottom to go over your element that your immersion chiller can sit on? Something like a pizza cooking rack or wire rack with as many holes as possible with some stainless steel carriage bolts on the bottom as feet to elevate it over the...

    Vienna SMaSH - which hop?

The hop you use will really depend on what kind of vienna smash you are doing, lager or ale. You can do a 100% vienna smash lager to relative style with saaz hops. If you want to get a little more intricate you could do a single malt and double hop all vienna ale/lager with saaz and willamette...

    Columbus single hop IPA

Split the later additions, don't remove one. Columbus has a great earthy dank, very slight citrus, pungent dry hop flavor and aroma. I usually use only 0.5 oz to dry hop a 5 gallon batch for ales that don't usually get dry hopped and they really benefit from it. I've done about 1.5 oz in...

mr malty is asking for a 5.5 l starter for wyeast 2112 is that correct?

There is an option for intermittent shaking. If you use the intermittent shaking option, with hybrid, 1.052, 87% viability and anything under 5.38 gal you will only need one vial/smack pack and a 2.5L starter. Use that pull down menu for the kind of starter you are using.

mr malty is asking for a 5.5 l starter for wyeast 2112 is that correct?

What kind of starter are you doing? The program is set for 'simple starter' that is merely a starter that sits on the counter. If you have a stir plate, make sure to select that option because for a 5 gallon batch it told me no more than 2L. How old is your yeast? That can play a huge role as...

Ho do you measure your water?

I've been brewing for a few years now and I have always either used a Morebeer! fermentation bucket that has markings on it or 1 gallon water jugs to measure out my water. In turn, I have always adjusted my strike and sparge water volumes to the integer or other volumetric markings on my...
