    Pitching yeast to carbed keg

I have a Hopslam clone that is kegged and carbed. FG was 1.024 (Target is 1.018). Was a little concerned not hitting target. Beer tasted sweet, but I always does until carbed. Yeah, it is too sweet to drink. I have 4 gal. left. Plan was to bring the keg and yeast to room temp, and...

why is there still bubbles in my air lock.

The airlock activity your seeing is normal. A lot of folks may secondary beers 1-2 or more weeks, particularly dark beers. But if you hit your gravity, tastes good and you need to make room, go ahead and bottle. Scott Young

    Plate Chiller/Sanitation

Thinking the hop spider will provide better utilization than the bags, and still keep the pellet gunk out of the chiller. http://www.stainlessbrewing.com/Hop-Strainer-Kit_p_123.html

    Brew-Magic Basement Brewery

Finally, freezer space for fermentation and hops. 7 lbs. of hops in the freezer is a great feeling.

    Finally got my fermenting chamber!

Nice score man. Looks like the perfect shape and size for a chamber.

    Plate Chiller/Sanitation

Yeah, I have had the same concerns regarding the bags and utilization. I have a FB in my boil keggle that works great for screening cones, so I really try to use fresh hops only. Of course, not 100% possible.

    Plate Chiller/Sanitation

I have had my chiller for a year and was having the same issue. It was the pellet hops that would get stuck in there. I strictly use the fine mesh bags for pellets, and no more floaters coming out at all. Btw, that pump box is super cool.

    Loving Ohio Tap Water Temps

Brewed two batches yesterday. Incoming water was 40 F. Makes for quick work with the plate chiller. Too bad it can't stay this cold year round.

    The insult game

Your face looks like it caught fire and someone put it out with a shovel. That's dumber than a screen door on a battleship.

    What's your favorite hot sauce?

Cholula. I like other sauces too, but use this one the most. Great on scrambled eggs.

    Water help

Ok, did a quick search and could not find any relevant information as to what districts in the city pull from which source. However, looking at the report you pasted, nothing is way off the chart that would cause concern (according to Bru'n Water). But, I would bet you a 6-pack that if you...

    Water help

If your current water tastes good from the tap, your probably fine just using it after filtering through a carbon block. I started AG by just taking water from my kitchen fridge filter.

    Water help

Call your water utility and see if they can provide the information for your location. If not, the best thing to do is have your water tested, I used Ward Labs, which comes highly recommended on this forum. After you have the information, you can download a free brew water tool like Bru'n Water.

    No krausen on ipa

Yea, it is. Tom Petty always pops into my head when brewers say that.

    No krausen on ipa

I 2nd Dogmatic. Best to wait it out. Just curious though, is there any activity in the airlock at all?
  17. scratchy1971

    No krausen on ipa

Well, clarify a few things first. Are you seeing no bubbling in the airlock at all? 1. Are you sure the yeast was viable before pitching it? (made a starter or the smack pack swelled). 2. Was the wort temp to hot when you pitched? 3. What is the temp of the beer now?
