    Spring 2024 Corny Keg Giveaway

I made a pale ale and realized after the fact realized I used hops from Czech, Australia, Britain, and the US. I'm calling it a NATO pale ale.

    Gas line concerns

Sorry, I was mostly worried about sanitation. I guess I wasn't thinking about sanitizing on the gas side because I'm an idiot and had been drinking a little:) I'll run some star san through it and call it a day! Cheers!!

    Gas line concerns

So, I think I know the answer, but I want to get some confirmation. Awhile back I had to “deconstruct” one of my gas lines/manifolds to rob some parts. I have a gas line that’s been connected to my manifold on one end, but is an open MFL nut on the other end. This manifold has also been unhooked...

Introducing off flavors when bottling from keg?

My first thought was oxidation. And that bottling process was a ***** (using a beer gun). I actually might have an extra bottle still. I’ll see if I can figure anything out.

Introducing off flavors when bottling from keg?

Introducing off flavors when bottling from keg?

So, I recently entered three of my brews in a homebrewing competition and had decent results for two of them. Even medaled in the best in show. However, my third beer, a white IPA, scored very poorly with both judges saying it was nearly undrinkable. Off flavors noted included skunky and...

Foaming problem (but only from one keg)

Thanks for the prompt reply, folks. I’ve been troubleshooting this while getting a couple homebrew kegs ready for a festival, so I’ve been all over the place and probably not very clear on what’s going on. (Not to mention I’m sort of an idiot) I’ll do a little digging on the coupler and see what...

Foaming problem (but only from one keg)

    Here’s what I’m getting.

Foaming problem (but only from one keg)

I’m having major foaming issues. Posted earlier but decided to start over with the attached video. This particular sanke coupler seems to have this problem. Can anyone identify what wrong and what I should do to fix it?

Foaming problem (but only from one keg)

Also, sorry, I meant sanke coupler. Posting on the fly!!

Foaming problem (but only from one keg)

Yeah, the blue moon keg poured fairly well and the other went straight foam. I don’t know exactly what’s going on, but it appears to be coupler related. By large air gaps I mean several inches of air. First pull acts like the keg blowing empty.

Foaming problem (but only from one keg)

So, I believe I have a problem with my sanke adapter. There appeared to be large air gaps in the beer line. I decided to switch adapters/kegs to see if it poured properly from the other sanke. When I unhooked it, the beer from the line slowly leaked back through the adapter. There appeared to be...

Foaming problem (but only from one keg)

I’ll give it a shot. I think I went down a pound or two, thinking I was pushing too hard/overcarbing.

Foaming problem (but only from one keg)

To start things off, I know why pours foam and my setup does not foam under normal circumstances. BUT, I have a commercial blue moon keg on tap now and it foams . . . a lot. Two other kegs in the keezer hooked up to the same co2 regulator do not have a foaming issue. Kegs that have run through...

White “stuff” in CO2 line during transfer

Ok. I’m going to green light my beer transfer I think. I was worried I had some sort of debris in my tank that would end up in the final product.

White “stuff” in CO2 line during transfer

I’m in the early stages of my first closed transfer. I just completed a purge of my kegs. (Filled to top with star San. Push star San out with CO2 and keep keg pressured up.) during this transfer, I noticed small bits of white “chunks” or “flakes” passing through the CO2 line to the keg. I...

    Siphon Pump Foam

Gotcha. So, I’m guessing pumping up helps provide some back pressure. If I pump into a sealed, pressurized keg, that should take care of all the resistance I need. At least that’s how it works out in my pea brain.

    Siphon Pump Foam

Could you describe your setup a little more. We tried to pump a beer recently and almost convinced ourself the foaming was oxygen related. Luckily we didn’t dump the beer. Im getting ready to pump into closed keg soon. I bought a spunding valve, but I’m wanting to take every step to reducing...

    First time Lagering/Oktoberfesting

Well, looks like this sparked some spirited debate. I appreciate the feedback folks. I did away with the caramunich, dropped the caravienne down to 4 oz and stuck with the melanoidin just because I’ve never used it and I want to see what happens. Dropped my mash down to 152. Currently have...

    First time Lagering/Oktoberfesting

Taking a crack at my first lager tomorrow. Oktoberfest. I think I’ve got all my fermentation plans lined out, but I was curious about my grain bill. I’ve seen a lot of different options out there, and I’m pretty sure I’m in the ball park. I just want to make sure I’m not forgetting anything and...
