First year grower - Hops ripped out of ground!

Love this, I think I'll do the same with my new rhizomes. Thanks for the pic.

First year grower - Hops ripped out of ground!

I used a blend of top soil and manure, which is the same mix used in my other garden beds. There is a dachshund that lives next door, I don't see it in my yard but that is a possibility. Whatever got to these it seems was drawn to these rhizomes. All six were dug up, and nothing else was...

First year grower - Hops ripped out of ground!

I live in Central Ohio, and I eagerly planted my six rhizomes in early May and they were poking out of the ground within a week of planting. I built raised garden boxes for them, in order to try to isolate the root structure and contain the hops. Well, after being in the ground for about two...

What's your favorite beer store in Columbus?

Savor on Indianola is making a strong case to become my favorite beer store. They deliver for free as well, which is as dangerous as it is amazing.

    Another newbie stopped/slowed fermentation question

I'm into my third batch, and my patience has been tested on each one. The only thing that has properly diverted my attention is brewing a new batch of beer. I anticipate this trend to continue, probably forever. The mead experiment sounds interesting, I'm eager to hear of your results.

    Just finished my first batch!

I applaud your ambition. I just brewed my third extract kit today, with hopes to move towards AG soon. I need to do some more research to get the right equipment, but I'm eager to hear how it goes for you. Keep us posted, I'll likely be learning from your AG experiences! :mug:

    First Brew

Are you planning on using a kit? I just brewed my 3rd ever batch today, and I've used the Brewer's Best kits on all three. From what I have seen, read and heard, they seem to be very consistent and high quality kits. The ones I have done (American Pale, Falconer's Flight IPA, and German...

    I think I messed up

Thanks everyone! I'm excited again for this beer, I'll definitely stash a sixer in the basement for a few months from bottling day to see how it develops over some time.

    I think I messed up

Yeah, I'm fine with the extra bitterness. I made that mistake, but am prepared (and eager) to deal with those consequences. Thanks for the input from both of you. I thought this was the case, but then I started getting paranoid. Looks like it's time to head to my LHBS for my next brew so I...
