What do we enjoy about brewing - the process, the results or the tinkering?

Admittedly, I don't post a lot. Additionally, I'm not an every month brewer and my visits to this forum wax and wane in proportion to my brewing regularity. That being said, I have been brewing for the better part of two decades and started out where many of us have - with some extract, a...

    New Manifold!

I'm building a rectangular cooler mast tun for the the first time. Finally got my manifold pieced together and in place. How does it look and any recommendations? Do I need to use hi temp hose to drain?

    Finally...fist time kegging!

So I took the leap. Kegged for the first time last night. Can't say I will ever go back to bottles. Sooo much easier. Now I just need some more kegs, more CO2 tanks, taps, etc. The wife will love the fact that I need more sh*t for my brewery. :cross:

Broken wrist = ruined brew day.

Broke my scaphoid bone in my wrist on Saturday whilst dirtbiking. Quad pulled out in front of me. Now I have a full arm cast. Brand new FMF Gnarly pipe trashed. Cant lift pots, buckets, carboys, etc. Looks like 6 - 8 weeks. I had planned to make a kolsch on Wednesday, and a saison in...

    Created a new brewer today!

So my buddy has always had an interest in brewing, but never really knew what it was about. I invited him over today to brew with me. He is a high school science teacher so we discussed the chemistry of brewing while waiting for the water to heat up. Before you know it he was checking the...

    Homebrewing and Riding Dirtbikes

How many of you ride dirtbikes and homebrew. I have a group of buddies around here who do alot of both. Nothing like spending all day in the dirt and then relaxing with a great beer. Plus since the riding sucks during the Ohio winter, we can brew during that time. I think they are two...

    6 year old mead?

Upon cleaning today, I came across some mead I made in 2005. It was the first alcohol I ever made and I was sort of disappointed in it when I tried it back in 06 and 07. Well today when I found it, I just had to pop a bottle open to try, to see how it aged. All I can say is damn. Apparently...

Has this happened to anyone before.

So right after Christmas I made an IPA. Everything went well and tasted good in the initial brewing process. Fermentation went well, nice and strong and I hit my final gravity right on. Before I put the beer in the bottles to condition it tasted great. Now everything is done and I am...

Does anybody get the kids involved?

I brewed up an IPA this past week, and my daughter was extremely interested in all the goings on. She wanted to help in every step. When we were done she was extremely proud of "our" beer and watches the airlock for bubbles. The funny part is that she is only 4 years old. I got a big kick...

    Hello from Ohio

Hows everybody doing. I've been brewing for about 4 years now, doing about two to three a year. Just put an IPA in the fermenter today. Im looking at getting into all grain and trying my own recipes and this forum looked like a good place to start.
