What else do I need to buy with Chugger Pump

I will be purchasing a chugger pump this Saturday. FINALLY! No more lifting 10 gallon batches. I have two converted keggles with ball valves. One for heating water and one for boil. What other materials should I purchase? I don't want to do the quick connects. Id love to, but its a question of...

    From Keg to Growler Carbonation

Ok, I searched and could not find a thread addressing this. What is it, if anything, that tap rooms use to fill growlers that causes them to stay carbonated for so long? I have picnic taps on my kegs and I've just gone strait to a growler with little success. Also, I've used a length of silicone...

Do you think its ok to pitch both yeast in a 5 gallon milk stout? Thanks for the input. This site pays for itself everyday.

    Mash Temp Measurment

So I was wondering how you all take your mash temperature. Where do you put the probe to get your measurement? I get different readings depending on where it is. Obviously hotter up top and cooler near the bottom. Just trying to get a consensus. Gracias and Cheers!

    Grain Issue

Stopped at the homebrew store today and was going to pick up 20lbs of german 2 row and 1 or 2 lbs of carapils. Well, I was halfway home before I glanced at the receipt and saw he gave me 2lbs of crystal 10L. So, anything I can do with this? Intent was to brew an imperial pils. The homebrew...

    Flooded Hops

So, thanks to 4 days of endless rain, the roots of my plants are under several inches of water. They have been this way for at least 2 days now. I've never had this problem in 4 years of growing. We have also never had this much rain in such a short period. One of the poles came down due to the...

    Corny flowing to other keg?

Ok, so I have 2 cornys. Just started kegging. Hooked the second keg up today. Stout in the first and scotch ale in the second. There is a y joint that separates the lines that flow into the keg. When I pull beer from the stout (the one thats ready) beer from the scotch ale flows back up the gas...

    Line hookups on corny kegs

I just hooked up my second keg during my lunch break. And by second I mean it’s only the second time I've hooked one up. I’m new to the kegging world. I want to make sure I hooked up the gas line and liquid line correctly. Are they always on the same side of the corny kegs no matter what? I...

Pouring bottles into keg to carb

I brewed a bourbon porter months ago. It’s been in bottles since late August and just never carbed. Just the slightest and I mean slightest carbonation. Can I open the bottles and pour them into my empty sanke and then put CO2 on it? Theres probably 3.5 gallons total.

    False Bottom Issue

Yes I did post this in another thread. I would not double post if it weren't time sensitive. I am out shopping around for materials right now. Ok, so I finally gave in and got a nice false bottom for my mlt. I was so excited to finally use it 2 weeks ago. Everything was going great in the...

    False Bottome Help

Ok, so I finally gave in and got a nice false bottom for my mlt. I was so excited to finally use it 2 weeks ago. Everything was going great in the brewing until the stuck sparge from HELL!! I had never had a stuck sparge period, let alone this beast of one. I ended up having to dump my mlt out...

    Dream come true?

I've been offered a full time brewing position at a brewery about to open up here in town. My current job pays well and has great benefits. But I would take a pay cut in order to do something I love full time. My biggest concern is the medical. I have two kids. 16 months and 4 years old. My...

    Delmarva Area Home Brew Competition

I realize this will constitute a very small population of the readers and contributors on HBT, but thought I'd post it anyways. This years Good Beer Festival is going to be holding its first Home Brew Competition. Of course this weekend is the Battle of the Brews. But October 13th and 14th is...

Possibly the best beer I've ever had!

Tried this beauty last night for the first time. I am a Southern Tier junkie anyways. They dont make bad beer. But this thing is on a whole different level. Incredible is the only word I can think of to describe it and that does it no justice. PLEASE do yourselves a favor and try this beer if...

    General Keg Questions

Im getting ready to finally start kegging half of each batch and bottling the other. I was told at the local HBS that its $250 for everything. That would include one 5 gallon keg, the pump, and all hoses. I have a chance to buy a kegerator that comes with a half keg for $225. I can use the half...

    Way to go Maryland!!

http://beerpulse.com/2012/05/maryland-farm-brewery-bill-signed-into-law/ Running a brewery type operation has been a dream of mine for some time. I also happen to have a good friend that owns a farm and was already looking into producing hops. I know this is all very early, being as I just...
