    Exhaust fan location question

Does anyone have experience with fan placement in an indoor brewery? I getting ready to install a hood and fan in my basement brew space. I have the Kal hood on order and a s-600 fan. It's a 8' run to the exterior. I have a 14' long run of 6" supply line for make up air and an 8' run of 6"...

The cost of craft beer, holy cow that's pricey.

Since we started packing and getting the house ready to sell a few months back I had to shut down the brewery. I had a decent pipeline of homebrew but it's running out. I've got a few more weeks of waiting while I get the new house set up to brew so I'm buying more craft beer than usual. I'm...

Cmb faucets. Anybody have experience with them?

I snagged a few really cool beer toys for the new house. I got a cool tower from a hbt member and a kegerator from a club member. The tower has these nice flow control faucets. Lots of work and some cutting of metal remain but I'm trying to get ahead with the fitting and sani part. So I need...

    Crazy flooding north of chicago!

We're scheduled to close on a new home at the end of the month. We had a terrible storm that dumped 5-10" of rain last night. We're just moving across town and my current home is dry but I'm not so sure about the new place! Here a pic I took as I was wading in 2-3' of standing water. I...

    Exhaust fan for indoor brewing

I'm looking for exhaust fans for an indoor brewing space. I emailed vortex fan regarding the application and they said both the s line and vtx lines were not suitable for brewing applications. I'm pretty sure this is the fan recommended by Kal. Does anyone have experience with these fans?

    Kinda nervous!

Listed the house for sale today. We don't really have a plan for the next house. Wife is sad the kids are gone and wants a fresh start in a new smaller place. I don't want to sell. I have a great brew space right now. 12' ceilings in a heated garage. Plenty of space for toys and beers, plus...

Dry hop with orange peel? Ever try it?

Anyone ever add orange peel post boil? I'd like a touch more in a batch that's finished fermentation. It seems like it might work but I've never tried it or head of it being done. I used some at the end of the boil for a Belgian white but want a touch more bitter and orange flavor...

    Coolship build and spontaneous fermentation

I was a lucky recipient of an old store display stand. I'm not aware of the history of the unit as a friend saw it at a flee market. He sent me a text and asked if me if I could serve beer in it. I replied that I could make beer with it! So here a brief outline of what I hope to accomplish...

Can you ship beer to Canada for a contest and via Versa.

As the title states, is it possible to ship beer to Canada and vise versa? I got into a debate re: DMS and boil time with a Canadian brewer. Can we settle this with a cross country border war? Cheers!

ISO alpha hop extract post fermentation.

Has anyone played with these extracts yet? I've got an imperial pils that needs a little more bitterness post fermentation. https://www.morebeer.com/products/isohop-bitterness-extract-1-oz.html

Some advise needed. Back flow into regulator

So my neighbor gave up brewing a 15 years ago. He was always frustrated with warm kegged beer(small plate chiller) and when he had a back flow into his regulator it was the last straw. He sold everything except for a few old cornet kegs. He gave me the kegs a week ago. I cleaned them and...

    Collecting yeast from the blowoff?

Is anyone collecting yeast at the blowoff? I have a 1/2 barrel conical. We have been getting a lot of yeast in the blowoff bucket on our last two batches. 1st batch was a monster stout at 1.129 with Nottingham and the seasonal wyeast PC Thames valley Next batch was a 1.062 hopped up American...

Tower of power won't read temp.

Hi all has anyone had a problem with the Blichmann tower of power gas unit not reading temps correctly? I just came out to bring things up to temp and I'm getting crazy readings from my probe. It's reading -120.00 and flashing with red letters. Has anyone seen a rest function on the unit?

    Blichmann G2 10 gallon kettle

For sale is my used Blichmann G2 10 gallon kettle. This was used about 15 times as my HLT. I upgraded my boil kettle and moved everything over so I no longer need this piece. It's clean dent free and looking for a good home for the holidays. I'm north of Chicago and prefer local pickup. If...

    Seedling mat to warm fermentation.

Hi all, just wanted to share a cheap solution for folks looking to add a little warmth to fermentation. I just picked up a seed mat warmer for starting seeds in the spring. It's a 20 watt pad 9x20 that puts out 90 degrees or heat at 70 degrees. You can also get a small temp controller with an...

    Good idealuck

I just set up a temp control system for my fermentation system. I have a sous vide circulator so I bought a 30 gallon tub at the Home Depot to hold 2 6.5 gallon carboys. I filled it with water after I placed the carboys in the tub and dialed in my primary fermentation temp of 72. The system...
