    Need to marinate turkey

No way I'm pulling off a gallon of my RIS for this. Plan is a 2 gallon BIAB tomorrow, 4 pounds of grain dry stout recipe and pitch us05. I then marinate the turkey with it on Wednesday. This is instead of buying 3 6packs of guiness or something. Am I crazy?

    Quick sparge did not work

So this weekend I was brewing a schwarzbier and decided to try batch sparging more quickly. I've read over and over that you just have to stir it up and drain it, no letting it sit or anything. So after draining the mash as normal I put in my sparge water, overshot the temperature by 4...

To go big or play it safe?

I recently converted a 48 qt cooler into an mlt and have now done two all-grain batches. I bought a chest freezer and stc-1000 and want to do my first lager! Now, I've never tried a pilsner I liked, and am not a fan of oktoberfest, so I want to do a doppelbock. Specifically, an ayinger...

    Troubleshoot AG batch

Brewed my first AG batch last night, and I did some things that I'm not too sure about. I did not vorleauf at all. I used a strainer bag to strain the wort coming out of the mash tun. I wound up stirring it while draining the sparge. The mashout seemed to help, but I'm not sure what it did to...

    Yeast, or just trub?

Picture below. I grabbed some trub from an IPA I just racked. Looks like it's just trub. Is there any yeast in there?

    Lauter reducer is wrong material?

I assembled a MLT this morning, and it just now occurs to me that I don't know what this reducer is made out of. Is this something I want in my mash?

    Skunky beer?

I brewed a weizenbock not too long ago, and some weird stuff is happening. I bottled it about 12-13 days ago. Last night, I stuck one in the fridge for a couple of hours, and when I opened it, the foam very slowly creeped up the bottle. I poured it before it got out of hand, and the head was a...

    Forgot to sanitize!?

So I just brewed a batch a couple hours ago and it hits me that I forgot to sanitize the bowl that I dehydrated the yeast in! Do I go purchase a few campden tablets, or do I wait it out? We had an ice/snow storm here yesterday and I couldn't get to work (hence the brewing.) Would be difficult...

Wildeman IPA clone? - have hops schedule from brewer

I'd like to make a beer similar to Wildeman farmhouse IPA from Flying Dog. It's described as an unfiltered American IPA hopped with citra and fermented with saison yeast. The beer is 7.5% ABV. The hop schedule I received from Flying Dog is as follows. 90 min- Warrior 60 BU 30 min- Willamette...

    New guy from Oklahoma

Greetings! I've got a mere 2 batches bottled, and already this hobby is growing out of control! :fro: Who would have thought it could be so compelling?

    Gusher?

I brewed from extract a belgian saison, and I was a bit under on the OG. It was 1.04, whereas I was hoping for at least 1.048. After a week in primary, the gravity was lower than I wanted, and I moved it to secondary to clarify. This was about a week ago. I'm a little surprised that it's...

    First recipe - questions (Weizenbock)

So I've got three extract kits under my belt, and naturally I'd like to make something way too complicated. First, the recipe as it stands now: 6.6 lb wheat LME 1 lb pale DME Will put the DME in at the beginning, and the LME at the very end of the boil grain bag: 1 lb caramel...

    First batch!

First homebrew was a resounding success! My first ever batch is an extract kit dunkelweissen. Took a couple weeks in a primary, another in secondary, and two weeks in the bottle. I was a little worried about it, what with all the sanitizer and airlock my wife dropped in it, the lid on my...
