    Bug-eaten hop cones

Some of my hop cones have holes from bug munchies. Would you all still use those cones in your beer or toss? Understand boil would kill germs but what about for dry hopping?

    Fermentation Videos!

I know I love watching yeast in action, so I thought I'd share my videos for all those who like to stare. This is an IPA I just brewed, using White Labs California Ale Yeast WLP001 https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwpT1i_AG6ixeTlfUzY0MnI0Q2s/view?usp=sharing A black IPA I brewed back in...

    Historical Hop Knowledge

Being a history nerd, and super cheap and not wanting to buy any books, I found these cool books from the 1800s about growing hops. Thought I'd share for those in the same boat as me. Ezra Meeker - Hop Culture in the United States: Being a Practical Treatise on Hop Growing in the Washington...

7 foot trellis - what will happen?

Built a trellis for my first year hops. For practical purposes, I built it only about 7 feet high. I know this is way shorter than recommended, but I wasn't willing to go any higher. My question is - how will this affect my crop? Should I extend the growing space horizontally with more twine...

    Catonsville brewers?

Anyone on this thread live in or around Catonsville? I'm interested in starting a home brewer's co-op of sorts, where people could meet to swap beers they've brewed and share recipes and knowledge. I know there's a bunch of similar clubs in the Baltimore area, but I'd like to narrow this...

    Bauernbier

My German grandmother always tells me about when she was young (World War II-era and earlier) the farmers of her small town would all take turns brewing a batch of beer that they would drink while working in the fields. The town specifically is Maroldsweisach in the Upper Franconia...
