Hi all
So I have seen some wild hops growing very near me (in the uk)
What are you thoughts on using them in a brew as I have no idea what type they would be. How would I know how much to use as they Are wild? Like will they be as 'strong' as ones I would buy online?
Cheers!
i guess the bucket lids make a good enough seal for nothing to get in but just bad enough to let out the co2 build up which once subsides goes back to being sealed?
like i said ive never had a issue before, and never used a airlock on a bucket. lost count of how many batches ive done without...
cheers for the feedback guys! makes me feel happier :)
it was also a brand new bucket so i guess the seal was pretty good and firm.
and lucky there will minimal spillage too haha
hi,,
so i came home today and the lid had lifted off the fermenting bucket.
i know i should have a airlock on there but i have never used them due to how my first kit told me to do it and the equipment it had with it.

is there any need to sanitize them? they should be clean already but ive...
hello all,
so ive got a batch bottled up and is at the 3/4 week mark. theve carbed up ( i use 2l plastics, so i can tell by firmness). i dont have a spare or a large fridge/cooler so i cant cold crash the ferment bucket before bottling. the only thing i can do is cold crash the bottles one or...
okay, i think im going to stay clear of the lactic acid then as i dont want to ruin a batch.
i think i will get acid malt and add 2% of my grain bill. seems a bit more natural too.
yeh i know the water profile. i entered it into the calculator along with the grain bill.
although, i will now only take its measurements as a guide.
i will get some acid and use a bit under what its recommending as to not go to far.
i wasn't doing anything before so anything will be a small...
its for 5 gallons, so hopefully the 6ml should be safe. i guess it should be okay.
