Here are pics of my HLT and Boil Kettle. The HLT has a high mounted whirlpool fitting. I had the same setup in my Boil kettle but found that there was a lot of aeration of the wort.
I switched to a long tube (to the bottom of the kettle) for whirlpooling in my boil kettle . It works well...
This is my second batch of homebrew using my new Nalgene carboy. 11 gallons of Blonde Ale went into the fermenter.
Better than using two 6 gal carboys any day!
Quick pics of my whirl-pool/recirculation port. It could be placed anywhere on the keg. I chose the top portion of the keg. It works best for how I brew and my intended purpose.

It can be set up in many ways. Yes, you could put the valves directly on the pumps. But if you want to tear down and clean or reconfigure you do not want to mess with the pump heads.

I original went with pin lock kegs because they are shorter. I will have 8 kegs now and I think its time to build a keezer!
