I use the same approach, except that I use a boat cooler and lay a 5 gallon keg on its side with the gas port up. Then I just slightly bend the liquid tube to the bottom. Perfect for weekends away from the kegerator.

First, to throw out this batch would be rediculous. It may not be perfect but it's likely drinkable and will most definately get you drunk.

Same thing for me. Black Pearl Porter with S-04 and it just had an inch or so of foam that didn't reasemble a krausen. I'd go with the oats as the source.
