NO! An appliance should never be plugged into an outlet with a higher rating than the appliance. A table lamp may only use half an amp, but the lamps wiring is rated for 15 amps. Plugging the lamp (or your hotplate) into a 50 amp outlet could cause the wiring to catch fire before the fuse or...

My understanding is some oil will get through. It's not much but I wouldn't risk it.

Make sure you are using an oil-less air compressor, otherwise you would be blowing oil into your keg.
