One Gallon All Grain brews to kill time!

I have made 2 gallon BIAB on my stovetop with my 5 gallon brewpot. Works quite well and end up with a little under 1 case of beer. Brewtarget is great because you can set up custom equipment profiles. Once your profile is dialed in you can hit your numbers more consistently.

    Vienna malt

I bet it will be a great Kolsch though. Homebrewing I try not to get too stuck on style guidelines. As long as the beer tastes good and gives a buzz I don't care.

Good price for starting out or too much?

You can build an immersion chiller much cheaper. Copper tubing, garden hose and hose clamps. Mine works great.

What are some of the mistakes you made...where your beer still turned out great!

I just had almost the same experience with my current batch of beer. I had not brewed in a few years and just started back up. I made a cranberry wheat. When I went to siphon to the bottling bucket I could not keep the siphon going to save my life. I finally had my daughter hold the bottling...

    Im new

Thumbing through Home Brewing For Dummies at the book store is what got me interested in the home brewing hobby. Welcome, have fun, and "relax and have a homebrew" when your first batch is ready.

    Mr. Beer First Tasting

The smell of mashing and boiling wort is heavenly in my opinion. No complaints from my wife or daughters. My wifes only complaint is the moisture in the house when boiling up a batch so I have to ventilate by cracking open a couple windows. I make 2.5 gallon all grain BIAB batches on the...

    Extract w/ Specialty vs. Partial-Mash

I would also recommend BIAB for partial mashes. I see no need to build a mash tun and do all that transferring when you can just mash in your brew pot, pull out the bag and let it drain, add your extract and boil. You can also do all grain 2.5 gallon batches on the stove with a 5 gallon brew...

    Spring Water vs Distilled Water

I have always just used tap water and my beer comes out great. I guess we have good tap water. A lot of microbreweries and brewpubs in our area. I doubt they use bottled water to make 200 gallon + batches of beer. They may filter the water but that would be all.

    First Timer

Just a warning. You should not use the propane burner in an enclosed area like your basement. These burners are intended for outdoor use. You would need a vent hood and air circulation to use it indoors. You would need some kind of professional help to set it up to operate safely indoors.

Brown Ale with S-04 yeast...bitter/nutty/nasty! What happened?

That's why I chose this yeast for my current batch. I am fermenting a Best Bitter and wanted an English Ale flavor profile.

    1st BIAB (Gumballhead Clone)

Cheers! In Homebrewing you get to drink your research.

    First All Grain BIAB

That's why I love the BIAB concept. So simple. You would think Homebrewers would have done it this way from the beginning. Leave it to the Aussies to come up with something this easy.

Brown Ale with S-04 yeast...bitter/nutty/nasty! What happened?

Oh no!!!!!! I have a bitter fermenting right now that I started on Sunday using this yeast. Man I hope this batch isn't crap! It's my first all grain beer, a 2.5 gallon batch. I think I will transfer to the secondary at the end of the week. Maybe leaving it in primary longer is what creates...

    First All Grain BIAB

Thanks for the input. I will double mill the grain next time. I doubt I will dunk sparge, however, I may try redunking in the mash a couple times like recommended. I hope to get to 75% or better with a no sparge BIAB. The reason this technique attracted me is simplicity, so I will keep it...

    First All Grain BIAB

Brewed my first all grain beer today. I chose to try a 2.5 gallon BIAB since I only have a 5 gallon pot. I brewed a Special Bitter. I couldn't believe when I went to my LHBS to buy my ingredients. I told the clerk I was going to try BIAB and he did everything in his power to discourage me...
