Anyone have a solid Dark Czech Lager - Recipe

Yeah that’s an incredible score! I have not received anything that high in a Homebrew competition either… Now you need to enter it in some bigger competitions… :)

    Pilsner hops

Interesting commentary for me… German Pilsner is one of my most brewed styles. I’ve made German Pils with 100% Hallertau MF, that turned out well. First place in the Hoppy Pale European Lager category at the state fair. Another hop combination that works excellent in German Pilsner and I’ve...

Anyone have a solid Dark Czech Lager - Recipe

@Noob_Brewer I’ve brewed this style once or twice in the past and would have to review notes in my computer to see how different my grain bill was than what you came up with. One that responded to you said to his taste, all Pilsner malts produced beer that tastes the same. My taste disagrees...

    BIAB w/ Hops?

I have used an old BIAB bag for large hop loads (New England / Hazy IPAs) in the past. Hop utilization concerns… Normally use a homemade Hop Spider in the center. Seems to work okay with normal hop amounts for what I normally brew.

RIP Pat Hollingdale - brewing pioneer responsible for making BIAB popular

For those of you that have not heard, Pat Hollingdale passed away from cancer on July 12, 2020. I believe this should be mentioned on the BIAB forum because Pat is the main reason BIAB is so popular across the world today. Pat would be quick to share credit with a handful of other Australia...

    Mecca Grade Estate Malts

My brother was going to be in the area on business last year and I had him stop by and grab a few bags for me. The Lamonta is gone and I am almost out of Pelton. Have more of the Vanora and Metolius left. Their Full Pint barley variety definitely drinks a lot “bigger” than one would think...

    Perlick Faucets

Okay, thanks... Just got your messages and I'm sure we can figure something out on breaking up into multiple. Let me figure out how to PM both of you and we'll go from there.

    Mill Gap Settings BIAB

Thanks for catching it. I corrected my post.

    Mill Gap Settings BIAB

My samples were after stirring, at top of wort, into coffee cup, then after cool down into hydrometer container. I have a ball valve and could measure at a few inches off bottom of pot. But that would seem like similar but opposite effect. Thanks for the tip... Something else for a future...

    Mill Gap Settings BIAB

Mecca Grade - in their spec sheet it says DP(Linter) is between 140-160 with Lamonta. https://www.meccagrade.com/collections/foundation-malt/products/lamonta My mill can only go as fine as 0.025 (edit)...which seems pretty darn fine to me. But is not total powder. At the minimum, having my...

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

No need to belabor the fallacy about BIAB not producing clear beer. Some great pictures were posted by others showing clear BIAB beer that matches what I also experience. It “may” produce cloudier wort going into fermenter, but beer produced can be very clear - especially if you cold crash. Pat...

    Mill Gap Settings BIAB

Well I did it. Brewed first batch with the new mill yesterday. Dry Irish Stout. My 54th BIAB batch, but first one where I used a mill with a fine crush. Put together and figured out both mills yesterday, which certainly added to the time involved. Bought the cheap Corona mill through Walmart...

    Why doesn’t everyone BIAB?

Just caught your post, BarleyStanding... Interesting. I’m wondering what the impact difference in Beta and Alpha Amalyse temps will have - real world... Will we notice any difference in flavor? May have to do some testing.
