    Canadian Border Crossing Experience?

So I'm heading from Detroit To Toronto with a buddy to meet up with some friends and I'm planning on bring a case of homebrew plus 4x 64 oz growlers. I just got off the phone with the Border Information Service and they said its perfectly legal and at 16 liters we'll be withing our tax exempt...

Looking for advice on electric systems

I have thought about it but i've ruled it out for the following reasons: 1) I honestly don't think my kettles are high enough quality to invest that much money in them and 2) I don't trust myself to be able to do it correctly without a lot of time, effort and tools. I know nothing about wiring...

Looking for advice on electric systems

That's a good point I hadn't thought about. I really haven't done any big beers yet because 5 gallons of a big beer would sit forever in my kegerator but I did get the Last Straw bottler for my birthday so I could... IDK if the GF could handle a big beer like that but the BrewEasy does have a...

Looking for advice on electric systems

I have 2 issues with the Brew Boss and that's cost and size. 15 gallons is more than I have the pipeline for. I'm set up for 5 gallon batches so i'd need all new fermentors/chamber, triple the amount of kegs i have now and based on the rate we go through beer, i'd reduce my brew days by a factor...

Looking for advice on electric systems

Hey all, Having recently welcomed assistant brewer #2 I'm trying to plan for what little brewing time I did have being cut even further. I brewed on my current system (2 8 gallon pots with ball valve spigots, propane burner and a cooler mash tun) on Friday and while it was a successful brew day...

Looking for a name for a new brew club

i dig the Platt-oh type name, or if you spell it right you could have a guy looking through a telescope as your logo, but instead of a telescope its a refractometer, and instead of looking at the moon its a bi hop cone surrounded by grain stars or something.

Looking for a name for a new brew club

my initial reaction is to go w/ something with Brewers because of the location but i think it would end up too generic sounding. Maybe like the Platteville Platos Club or something w/ the alliteration. Then you could do something cool w/ the logo to tie it in maybe? Quick idea

    Kegs vs Taps

I actually did this too. I marked the spacing on all 4 while i had the level lined up but then I actually drilled the pilot hole through my fridge and just put a touch of caulk on both sides to seal it. Then I added taps as I got money/full kegs.

    Kegs vs Taps

I think those are two different questions actually. How many taps should I have and how many kegs should I have. If you have room in your keezer for 4 kegs I would do at least 3 taps, depending on the rest of your situation. I fit 4 kegs, I have 4 taps. But i have a fermentation fridge I can use...

Has home brewing changed your tastes in beer?

I just started using the untappd app basically just to keep a record of what I liked and didn't. I keep general notes elsewhere too but if I'm trying to learn a new style its nice to have a quick reference on my phone of what I've tried and how I felt about it.

Has home brewing changed your tastes in beer?

This is me too for the most part. I have 4 taps so I keep 2 of my favorites (2 of things like Porter/Nut Brown/Stout), 1 of my wife/family's favorite (IPA), 1 seasonal (Blonde currently, sometimes wheat or cider). But I when i go out or buy beer I'm constantly trying new things. got a 50...
